Jean Mcbride Sorensen

October 21, 1934 — January 13, 2019

Jean McBride Sorensen passed from this life on January 13, 2019. She was born October 21, 1934 in Hyrum, Utah to LeRoy McBride and LaVon Kirby McBride. Jean attended Lincoln Elementary School and South Cache High School. She also attended Utah State Agricultural College for a short time. She later worked at the Improvement Era Office in Salt Lake City, a job she enjoyed very much, meeting many interesting people.

Jean met Richard Ariel Sorensen from Preston , Idaho on a blind date. He was a returned missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who was home on leave from the army during the Korean War. He left a big impression on her and they corresponded for 1½ years while he finished his service in Korea. They were married in the Logan LDS Temple on June 8, 1956.

Richard and Jean lived in Ogden, Utah for a time, then moved to Hyrum where Jean resided until October 2018 when she was admitted to Rocky Mountain Care in Logan, Utah. Jean held several jobs and decorated wedding cakes.

Jean was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings. She and Richard served a family history mission in the Iowa Des Moines Mission in 1998-1999, and then volunteered at the Logan Family History Center. In recent years, Jean enjoyed time spent with her friends at the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers (DUP) meetings, and book club.

Jean is survived by her husband, Richard, children: Nancy (Cary) Hyde, Elaine (Hal) Porter, Rodney (JaNae) Sorensen, David (Jennifer) Sorensen, Jan Manuel (foster daughter); nieces: Colleen McCurry, Virgina (Robert) Hert, Lora Brannon, nephew: Danny; and sister-in-law Karen Clark; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, brother,
Val Roy McBride, sister-in-law Pauline Sorensen Marble, and brother-in-law Jack Clark.

The family wishes to thank the kind and caring hospice nurses and aides and Rocky Mountain Care for the compassion shown to Jean.
