Kevin James Nielsen

May 6, 1962 — December 11, 2017

Kevin James Nielsen, 55, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017 in Logan after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family and friends.

Kevin was born May 6, 1962 in Whittier, California to Clair Leon and Jean Gunnell Nielsen and has one brother Scott Nielsen. After his mother passed away in 1976, he gained a loving stepmother Sylvia and two step-brothers Bennett Keller and Chris Keller. His family moved to Logan, Utah in 1978. He married Alayne Herd in February of 1986; together they had four children.

Kevin got involved in the pizza business early on by working for his father at age 18. After many years of working for their father, Kevin and his brother Scott bought the Domino’s franchise in 1997.

Kevin was a dedicated father and husband and his family meant everything to him. He kept very close relationships with his extended family and friends as well. Kevin was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints holding many callings. He was known for his outgoing personality and his love for everyone. He was called a “friend magnet” making friends everywhere he went. Kevin was quick-witted with an amazing sense of humor, he always had people laughing.

Kevin enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing basketball, camping, ping pong, playing games, photography, Mexican food, the 3 Stooges, and sending several humorous snapchats a day. Kevin had a love for music and played multiple instruments. He was the drummer in several bands over his lifetime.

He is survived by his wife Alayne, his children: Jordan (Cami) Nielsen, Long Beach, California, Brandon (Krista) Nielsen, Eagle Mountain, Utah, Courtney (Quinten) Morgan, Del Rio, Texas, and Cassie (Michael) Smith, Logan, Utah, his father and step mother Clair and Sylvia Nielsen, his brother Scott (Kathy) Nielsen, his step brothers Bennett (Lori) Keller and Chris (Monica) Keller. He has one granddaughter, Brooklyn Morgan who he absolutely adored. He was preceded in death by his mother Patricia Jean Nielsen, mother in law Joan Herd, and Father in law Kermit Herd. He will be dearly missed by friends and family, but we know he was looking forward to seeing his mother again after being apart for 41 years.

There will be a viewing on Friday, December 15th from 6-8 pm at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street Logan, Utah. A viewing will be held Saturday, December 16th from 10:30-11:30 followed by the funeral at 12 pm at the Green Canyon Stake Center, 400 E 1800 N North Logan, UT.
