Laree Freida Weidman Maughan

August 16, 1930 — January 21, 2018

LaRee Freida Weidman Maughan, 87, died on January 21, 2018 in Logan, Utah. She had a joyful reunion with her husband, J Calvin Maughan and her parents, Henry and Freide Weidman. LaRee was born in Cardston, Alberta, Canada on August 16, 1930. She enjoyed talking about Hillspring, Canada, where she grew up. She helped her father in the bees, was a telephone operator, and studied home economics.
She came to Logan, Utah in her early twenty’s, where she met the love of her life, Calvin Maughan and married him on June 1, 1953 in the Logan LDS temple.
She was an active member of the LDS church, serving in many callings. She enjoyed the YW MIA program and loved the girls she taught. She also taught many years in primary and became very close to some of the children. Her favorite callings were the missions she was able to serve with her husband, Calvin. They served in the California San Bernadino Mission, New York Rochester mission, Dallas Temple, and the Logan temple for many years. They made many friends and considered them as family.
LaRee enjoyed playing cards with the family. She crocheted edging on baby blankets for each grandchild and great grandchild when they were born. She spent hours putting puzzles together. She always wanted to go places, never turning down the opportunity to visit or vacation.
She is survived by all of their eight children, four daughters and four sons. Shonna (Michael) Johnson, Mantua, C. Wayne (Teresa) Maughan, Benson, Sherry Whitaker, Terry J. (Annette) Maughan, Benson, Larry J. (Laurie) Maughan, Trenton, Kaylene (Steven) Bond, Brigham City, Fonda (John) Willis, Texas, Richard C. (Anette) Maughan, Benson, her brother, Brent (Terri) Weidman and sister, Ruth Mayhew. She has 28 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren, which she loved and enjoyed being with.
Friends and family are invited to a viewing held at the Benson Ward Church between 9 and 11 a.m., Friday, January 26, prior to the funeral at 11:30. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank all those who truly cared for and visited with Mom during this trying time. Your loving care and good thoughts were very much appreciated.
