Lavon Anthony

January 7, 1924 — October 5, 2017

LaVon Anthony was born January 7, 1924, on a farm in Kimball, Idaho to Joseph Howard and Lillian Nielsen Anthony. She passed away October 5, 2017, in Logan, Utah. She was the fifth of seven children. She is survived by her sister, Joyce (Richard) DeMulling of Smithfield, Utah. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She attended grade school in Kimball, Idaho and graduated from Firth High School in 1941. She enjoyed swimming in the canal with her friends and playing softball. She did NOT enjoy harvesting potatoes, topping beets, or helping with the haying.

She sang in a trio with her two sisters. They sang in many places in Bingham County, Idaho. She sang in the Choral Tones in Rexburg, Idaho. She also sang with the Bel Canto Chorus in Logan for a number of years.

She attended Grimms Business School in Pocatello Idaho. She worked in several banks in southern Idaho, mostly doing bookkeeping. She served an LDS Mission in the Eastern States Mission and lived in the home of Richard G.Scott for a short time.

She moved to Rexburg, Idaho to work for the Idaho Bank of Commerce. She eventually moved to Logan, Utah to work for the Logan Herald Journal as Office Manager. She worked there for about 20 years. She retired in 1989.

After her retirement she served another mission in 1989-1990 in the Chicago Family History Center.

After moving to Logan she began doing volunteer work at the Logan LDS temple, serving for 23 years. She did volunteer work at the Logan Regional Hospital for 26 years. In 2014 she received a certificate from President Obama for her many years of service to her community.

She moved to the Williamsburg Retirement Home and lived there until the time of her death. She has been very busy there. She was in the Relief Society presidency and taught the Gospel Doctrine class for many years. She loved to teach. She conducted the singing in Sacrament and Relief Society meetings. Thanks to all the residents and staff at Williamsburg for the love and friendship they have shown LaVon.

Many thanks to the nurses and staff at Logan Regional Hospital, McKay Dee Hospital, and the nurses and staff at Rocky Mountain Care Facility.

She has requested that there be no viewing or funeral. She will be buried in the Basalt Cemetery, just above Firth, Idaho on October 11, at 12:00. She will be buried next to her parents.

She will be greatly missed by us all. Graveside services are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary and memories may be shared online at www.allenmortuaries.net .
