Leatrice Mary Oldham Vann

November 6, 1923 — October 18, 2019

Leatrice Vann, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed quietly on the morning of October 18, 2019 with her family at her side. She lived 95 remarkable years dedicated to her husband, family, faith and friends. Born in Logan, Utah on November 6, 1923, Leatrice loved helping her mother, working on the family farm and playing outside. She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The young girl from Cache Valley matured and met her to-be husband in Salt Lake City. They were married on September 10, 1945 and she began a journey across the United States.

An eager homemaker, Leatrice and her husband Warren re-located many times for work including stints in Denver, Colorado, Chicago, Illinois, Bountiful, Utah, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Memphis, Tennessee, Salt Lake City, Utah and finally Logan, Utah. Each time, Leatrice made a home for her children and husband as they adjusted to life in their new city. In each of these places, she became involved in her community and assumed leadership positions.

After retirement, Leatrice found a new love, traveling across the nation and in Canada seeing the country. This time, her home was mobile as she and Warren purchased an RV and set out to explore. Never too far from home, Leatrice was always waiting for a visit from her children or grandchildren, running to a Daughters of Utah Pioneers meeting or scheduling time to grab a bite with a neighbor. She loved working in her garden at home and often would speak of the need to get out in the sun for a dose of Vitamin D.

In her later years, her resolve still held strong as she enjoyed living in Salt Lake, having lunch and dinner with other residents of Brookdale and playing games as her mind stayed sharp as a tack. Often, she would boast about her family, her father and brother’s time working and designing golf courses as well as picking up jobs of interest when she felt the need for a new experience. Just as she lived her life, she graciously left this world with a nod, a soft blink of the eyes and a last whisper of breath.

Leatrice was preceded in death by her father and mother, Russell Brown and Mary Emile Swensen Oldham, her brother, Russell Boyd Oldham, her sister, Shirley Amanda Oldham Chapman and her husband Warren Edward Vann.

She is survived by her son Larry Vann, daughter Linda Miller and her husband Maxwell Miller, son Warren Edward Vann, Jr. and his wife, Nancy Osbahr, her grandson Anthony Vann and his fiancé Cindy Garrett, her granddaughter Marilee Miller, her grandson Maxwell Allan Miller and his wife Mindy Miller, her grandson Andrew Vann, his wife Bernadine Bunt and their daughter Elise Vann as well as her granddaughter Shannon Vann and her husband Levi Guthrie. She is also survived by countless nieces, nephews and cousins.
