Lois Kay Dettenmaier

Lois Kay Dettenmaier, 68, of Orem, UT, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2018 surrounded by her family. Lois was born in Santa Monica, CA, on January 28, 1950 to Francis J. and Barbara Dettenmaier. She is survived by her children, Klaire Dettenmaier, Erik (Melle) Dettenmaier, Emily Dettenmaier and Seth (Megan) Dettenmaier and her six beautiful grandchildren, Mary (Nicholas) Stauffer, Kevin Dettenmaier, Kati and Madi Nielson, Nick and Luke Dettenmaier. She is also survived by her four siblings, their spouses, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lois lived her life in service of others, especially disadvantaged children. She started her career as a special education teacher and went on to earn a Ph.D. in Psychology from Brigham Young University. She spent the remainder of her career dedicated to the care and protection of children. Lois was an expert baker and her desserts were the delight of many. She was a devoted and loving mother and the world’s best grandma who lived for her grandchildren.

A service in her honor is planned in her beloved California.
