Lynn Henry Teuscher

September 11, 1941 — July 15, 2022

Lynn Henry Teuscher passed away surrounded by family on July 15, 2022, at the age of 80, in Provo, Utah.

Born on September 11, 1941, in San Francisco, California to Ivan Maxwell and Jane Ruth Cannell Teuscher, Lynn was the oldest of four children. His family moved quite a bit during his childhood and youth. He lived in California, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Idaho, Montana, Washington, and Arkansas.

As a child, he loved planes and had several wood planes hanging from the ceiling in his bedroom. This interest in planes inspired him to study mechanical engineering as an undergraduate at Brigham Young University and pursue graduate studies at the University of California at Berkeley.

While at BYU, he met Jeanne Cheryl White, whom he married on September 3, 1964, in the Los Angeles Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They lived in Berkeley, Albany, and San Diego, California, before settling in Encinitas, California in 1974. After the passing of his beloved wife in 2020, he moved to Pleasant Grove, Utah to live closer to several of his children and grandchildren.

Lynn had a successful career as an engineer. After working for several companies, he and three associates opened an engineering firm specializing in environmental science. For the next 25 years Lynn’s expertise in developing models and algorithms that simulated dispersion of pollutants in the atmosphere helped the firms be successful. After retiring, he spent several years volunteering at La Costa Canyon High School as a mathematics tutor, and many afternoons helping teenage children from his church congregation complete their math and science homework.

Lynn had many hobbies that he shared with his children and grandchildren. He loved to tinker and fix things that were broken. We can still hear him say, “Bring it here, let me see if I can fix it.” He loved football, basketball, and baseball and always supported his children and grandchildren in their extracurricular activities. He coached Pop Warner football when his boys were young, and loved watching the San Diego Padres and San Diego Chargers on television. He enjoyed the great outdoors and especially loved fishing, an activity he learned from his father as a boy and later shared with his children during summer vacations to Idaho. He was known for his sense of humor and could find humor in most situations.

Lynn loved his family and was passionate about family history. For 16 years Lynn served as a FamilySearch missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He enjoyed helping others engage in their own genealogical research, answering questions about family history, and testing out new features of FamilySearch. After helping others, he would spend time adding sources and memories to his own ancestors and teaching his children and grandchildren how to do family history. Most recently, he finished editing his father’s personal history where he meticulously added sources and photos. He learned to digitize photographs and videos so they could be shared with others. In addition, he served as a temple worker in the San Diego Temple for 11 years.

Lynn is survived by his eight children – Kevin (Penny), Craig (Gayle), Dawn, Nathan (Karen), Brian (Stephanie), Jamie (Heather), Eric (Emily), and Laurel – and 24 grandchildren, his sister, Jean (Will) Britt, and brother, Mark (Marilyn) Teuscher. He was preceded in death by his wife, father, mother, brother, and one grandchild.

The funeral will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022 at 11 AM in Allen Mortuary of North Logan. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Smithfield City Cemetery in Smithfield, Utah. Condolences say be shared with the family and a livestream of the funeral can be watched via the below link (password: Lynn).
