Michael Stuart

December 19, 1964 — April 27, 2017

Michael Carlos Stuart, 52, passed away surrounded by family on April 27, 2017 following a courageous 8 year battle with brain cancer.
Mike was born in Pocatello, ID to Douglas and Doris Stuart on December 19, 1964. He graduated from Burley High School in 1983 where he was a member of the baseball team. Mike then served an LDS mission in the Ventura, California area. He later moved to Logan, UT to attend Utah State University. In July 1988, Mike met his sweetheart, Denise Archibald. They were married later that year on November 19, 1988 and were later sealed as a forever family in the Logan temple. Mike was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had faith in the knowledge that families are forever. Mike and Denise are blessed with five children: Derek (Jessica), Camille (Cameron) Davis, Travis, Drew, and Bryce. They are also the proud grandparents of Theodore Davis, Jack Michael Davis, and baby Carson Stuart due to arrive in August.
The Stuart clan has lived in Wellsville, Cornish, and Smithfield, UT where Mike supported his communities and loved to help wherever he could. While in Cornish for 15 years, he was a member of the city council and was involved with the water department.
He worked as an engineer for Hyclone Laboratories and Thermo Fisher Scientific where he made many lifelong friends. He was a thinker and inventor. He could fix anything or he would research until he could. A project car was a must in the Stuart household and a local car show was never missed. He used his skills to help coworkers, family, and anyone in need. Because of his love of learning and doing, the effects of disease and multiple surgeries were especially difficult for him and his family.
In 2007, Mike fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a pilot. He loved the magic of flying and had a childlike curiosity for airplanes of all kinds.
Mike is survived by his wife, parents, children, grandchildren, and 7 brothers and sisters: Jeannie and Mark Maughan (Petersboro, UT), Becki and Dave Bowman (Logan, UT), Nancy and Rick Hansen (Boise, ID), Roger and Julie Stuart (Fairview, ID), Darrell and Beth Stuart (Cornish, UT), Angie and Jeremy Peterson (Ulysses, KS), and Jason and Tricia Stuart (Logan, UT). He was preceded in death by his twin brother and sister, Phillip and Patricia Stuart, mother-in-law, JoAnn Archibald, brother-in-law, Bruce Archibald, and beloved grandparents.
Viewing for friends and family will be held on Sunday, April 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Allen Mortuary of North Logan at 420 East 1800 North, North Logan, UT. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 1, in the Smithfield church at 625 East 600 South at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing before from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
The family would like to reach out and thank the CNS Hospice staff for their loving care, the Huntsman Cancer doctors Howard Coleman, Randy Jensen and PA Shaun Strope and local doctor Jeffrey Huffman.
“God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arm around you and whispered, ‘Come with me’. With tearful eyes I watched and saw you pass away. Although I loved you dearly, I could not make you stay. A golden heart stops beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke my heart to prove to me that he only takes the best.” -Anonymous Condolences and memories may be shared online at www.allenmortuaries.net
