Our bright light, Nakhia Aspen Holiday, passed away on September 20, 2022 in Newton, UT.
Nakhia or Khia, was born February 8, 1998, in Logan, UT. She instantly brought so much joy to her family.
Nakhia lived with her mom in Logan until 2 years old when they moved to New Mexico.
Her parents Shauna and Jester Holiday married in 2001. They lived in a few places around the Navajo Reservation before settling down in Bloomfield, NM in 2006.
Khia's title as big sister grew to include Memphis, Tayvin, Aniya, Cayson, and Kyrin Holiday. Khia had a special relationship with each of her siblings including Tim and Sariah Sanchez. She always made sure they knew she was the oldest even as her siblings grew taller than her.
Nakhia was a member of the Bloomfield Ward and attended Bloomfield High School. She loved sports and played soccer, basketball, and threw discus and shot put in cross country. She graduated from Bloomfield High School in May 2016. In 2017, she served in the Knoxville, Tennessee mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she met people that became lifelong friends. The people she met there had such an impact on her. She always talked about her short time with them and how she always wanted to return.
Khia returned home to Bloomfield and pursed college at San Juan College. She wanted a career in healthcare, wanting to pursue her passion to care for others and started as a phlebotomist. In her short adult life, she returned to Utah living in various cities, working at various places, and finally returning to Logan.
Nakhia made friends everywhere she went. Sharing her gift to talk to people easily made you feel noticed and left feeling like a friend. Her love for making people laugh was so magnetic. She had a great love for little ones who radiated towards her. Nakhia left a trail of great friends everyplace she went.
Her fascination with language inspired her to learn sign language and some Portuguese. She had a great love for her Navajo culture and surprised people with her ability to speak the language. She leaves her art and love for Superman and Anime for us to be inspired by. Even when she had reservations about things, she overcame it, and tried new things. Khia had her role models she looked up to, that inspired her, and she also encouraged them.
We will miss Khia's loving, sweet, and charismatic spirit. She always loved to make people laugh, usually with her many funny faces, and made sure to say, "I love you". Her inside jokes will be remembered and will bring comfort to those who reminisce about her. Nakhia's silliness, hugs, radiant gorgeous blue eyes, and beautiful smile will be missed. Her family looks forward to seeing her again.
Nakhia is survived by her parents Jester and Shauna Holiday, siblings Memphis, Tayvin, Aniya, Cayson, Kyrin, Tim Sanchez, and Sariah Sanchez, grandparents Ben and Kathy Chee, Joe and Esther Holiday, and Nick and Marilyn Sanchez, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be September 24, 2022, 1:00 pm, at the Logan LDS 1st Ward Chapel, 89 S 200 W, Logan, UT. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm before the funeral. Arrangements are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary.
