Oneda Larsen Hardman

June 17, 1927 — November 17, 2018

On November 17th, 2018 Oneda Hardman “Grandma Onie” passed from this world to return to her Heavenly Father and join her husband Joseph Henry Hardman. Oneda Larsen Hardman was born to John and Mary Larsen on July 17th, 1927 and was raised in the idyllic, hardworking, farming community of Wellsville, Utah. Growing up during the Great Depression, Oneda’s family was hit particularly hard. But she rarely spoke of those difficulties, choosing instead to focus on the good and the best things in her life. She would tell you herself that the best thing that happened to her was meeting her handsome Joe Hardman! Oneda and Joe were married on March 26th, 1954 in the Logan Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint Temple. They had seven children: Floyd, Logan; John (Teresa), Mendon; Curtis, Logan; Natalie Lundahl (Mark), Mendon; Mary Hammond, Logan; Camille Saltern (Ron), Mendon; Cyle, deceased. Oneda and Joe taught their children the value of hard work and the importance of caring for family while hauling hay and milking cows on the family dairy farm in Mendon.
But Oneda was also proud of her Wellsville roots and later in life she loved to reminisce about playing on the rope swing in their yard with brothers Darrell and John and her twin sister Valeda. Oneda enjoyed telling the stories of her life and having lively conversations with family and friends about everything from making bombs at the Arsenal to having shrimp dinners with Joe at the “Beanery” back in the day. She baked an amazing cheesecake and embroidered many beautiful pillowcases. When you paid a visit to Oneda you’d find either John Wayne on the TV or Kenny Rogers on the radio. She was a loyal fan and her 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren learned quickly there was no bad mouthing the Duke or the Gambler around her! That’s for sure!
Oneda, you walked through the many trials of your life with a strength and determination that most of us can only glimpse. Wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, we love you and will miss you every day. Rest In Peace, you’ve definitely earned it!
The Hardman family would like to extend their deepest thanks to CNS Hospice with a special thank you to Christine Ely for being such an amazing caregiver and support to the family. Christine was always patient, caring and kind. Oneda enjoyed their friendship and the many happy conversations they had over this last year. Thank you so much Christine
Graveside services will be held at the Mendon Cemetery on Wed., Nov. 21st, at 11:30 am.
