Orson William Wilson, 83, passed away peacefully October 28, 2017. He was born Feb. 5, 1934 to James and Leda Marie Wilson in Hyrum Utah. He grew up in Hyrum with his two brothers, Jay Wilson and Oren (Bud) Wilson and one sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Jensen. He received his education in Hyrum and after graduating from South Cache High, he served in the military where he was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return to Cache Valley he met his eternal sweetheart, Maureen Schenk Wilson. They were married on Oct. 25, 1956, in the Logan LDS Temple.
He attended and graduated from Utah State University with a degree in English and Chemistry. Before his graduation, he began working for Thikol (ATK) as a chemical engineer and stayed with them until his retirement in 1992, being a part of many successful projects. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and enjoyed serving in many positions. He loved his many callings and the people he served with, treasuring the many relationships he formed until the end of his life.
Orson is survived by his daughters, Leslie (Craig) Alder, Sheri (Brent) Hadfield, Maria (Robert) Meikle, and son, James Brad (Stephanie) Wilson, 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by his wife, Maureen, daughter Deniece, 2 grandsons, Alex and Jaxson, and 1 great granddaughter, Devyn.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff at Sunshine Cares, Legacy House, and Encompass Hospice.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, November 2, 2017 beginning at noon at the Young Ward LDS Church building, 2394 W. 2200 S, Young Ward, with a viewing prior from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. Interment will take place in the Hyrum City Cemetery.
