Ralph Sidney Karren

October 18, 1925 — September 27, 2017

Ralph Sidney Karren left this life at the age of almost 92 on the September 27, 2017 at his home in Lewiston, Utah under blue skies, warm sun and a warm breeze – a beautiful fall day.
He was born on the 18th of October 1925 in the home of his Grandfather and Grandmother – George Hyrum and Ella Angeline Kent Karren. He was the second son of Hyrum Sidney and Delecta Boman Karren. Sid grew up in Lewiston with his two brothers and a sister (Boyd H. Karren, George Nathan Karren, Eloise Karren Meyer while attending the schools in Lewiston in his younger years and graduated from North Cache High School.
Sid was drafted into the Navy during WWII and became a SeaBee while training in Farragut, Idaho. His duty assignments took him to San Francisco, Hawaii and a year on Guam in the South Pacific. At Guam, he served as a payroll clerk because of his clerical skills. Upon his return from his service for his country, he met Renee Wheeler and asked her to marry him. They have raised five children: Sidney Bruce (Alice), Greg H. (Joyce, Beverly – deceased), Vicki (Michael), Troy R. (Della) and Penny. Sid and Renee now have posterity of 27 grand children, 72 great grand children, 6 great, great grand children and posterity of over 137 family members.
Dad enjoyed farming and being engaged in the dairy business with his sons. Sid and Renee have enjoyed the Lion’s Club, Jaycees, American Legion, being a Director with the Federal Land Bank, Farm Bureau, County Committee for the FSA, Treasurer and recorder for Lewiston City, Manager of the Lewiston Theater, President of Cub River Irrigation Company while serving in many Church callings to include: Teacher, Clerk, Bishop, High Council, Stake President, Patriarch, Temple Officiator and Sealer in the Logan Temple.
One of his greater joys was meeting and visiting with old friends he met during his years of service throughout his life. He came into this life with a strong spirit and it has served him well throughout his life. Doing things the correct way was very important to him. A motto to live by was –“Right Time, Right Place, Right Reason – just do it!”
He spent a short time at the LDS Business College, but decided he wanted to be his own supervisor. His service in the Logan Temple had to be one of the highlights of his life. We will miss him! We extend a special thanks to Dr. R. N. Hirst, Amanda, Tammy, Alaina and other health care professionals for their compassionate service and kindness.
