Ray Grant Lucherini “George” of Hyde Park, Utah passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the age of 80.
He was born July 12, 1937 in Logan, Utah, the fourth child of Melvin William and Gwelda Lamb Lucherini. He was raised in Logan, Utah graduating from Logan High in 1955. He married his high school sweetheart, Carol Haslam, on December 2, 1955. They just recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.
He worked at Thiokol for over 30 years, retiring in 1997. He has always had a strong work ethic, sometimes working several jobs at one time.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding many different callings.
He was known for his homemade candy and cinnamon rolls at Christmas time.
He enjoyed traveling until his health prevented it. He went many places including Japan, Hawaii, Alaska, Panama Canal, New Zealand, and Australia. He has also enjoyed 4 cruises, including his final cruise which was with all 6 of his children and their spouses and several grandchildren for his 60th wedding anniversary in 2016.
You could always count on him joining in on a good game of Phase 10, or watching a Jazz game with a bowl of popcorn. He was an avid Jazz fan getting the opportunity to attend many games.
His family will always remember him for his sense of humor, especially his practical jokes right up to the very end.
He is survived by his wife Carol, his children Steven (Kaye), Julie (Mark) Forbes, Suzanne (Randy) Hummel, Terry (Steve), Jolene (Doug) Tingey, Melanie (Lance) White, 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, sisters Gayle Pitkin, Nedra Coyner, and Jean Lucherini.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Richard and Glen.
Funeral services and arrangements are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm at Allen Mortuary of North Logan, 420 East 1800 North, and on Thursday, February 15th from 10:30 to 11:30 am at the Hyde Park 9th Ward building, 65 East Center Street. Funeral services will begin at noon on Thursday at the Hyde Park building. Interment will be in the Logan Cemetery.
