Rodger Ashcroft Pond

December 2, 1938 — November 18, 2019

Rodger Ashcroft Pond, of River Heights, passed away on November 18, 2019 in Logan, Utah, surrounded by his family. He was born December 2, 1938 in Lewiston, Utah to George Stillman and Leda Ashcroft Pond and spent his childhood on the family dairy farm and in the Scouting program.
After graduation from North Cache High School, he attended Utah State University, where he received his Bachelor Degree in Accounting. He also received the Robbins Award “Man of the Year” in 1961, was a member of Blue Key Society and was selected as a Student Senator for the College of Business. As a fraternity brother at Pi Kappa Alpha, he also served as President and Regional “Outstanding Undergraduate”. He was an Aggie through and through and rarely missed a game, holding season tickets since 1961.
On August 11, 1961 he married his Alpha Chi Omega “Dream Girl”, Geniel Andersen, in the Logan Temple and together they raised 5 sons. He was proud of the fact that all were Eagle Scouts (as was he), returned missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and college graduates. His proudest moment occurred in August of 2017 when he, his wife and all of his sons and their spouses were able to attend the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple together. His service in the temple became a priority for him in the latter years of his life. He was also a huge fan of his sons and grandchildren in their sports participation and did all he could to support them.
His distinguished professional career as an accountant at Thiokol Corporation of 38 years, ended in 2000 as the Director of Government Accounting. After retirement, he volunteered his time at the River Heights Elementary School, helping 4th graders excel at math. He truly loved his association there with many outstanding children, teachers and administrators. He had also represented River Heights City on the Cache Valley Transit District Board for many years.
Rodger is survived by his wife of 58 years, Geniel, his sons Brad (Julie), Chris (Geniel), Scott (Andrea), Steve (Melissa) and Ryan (April), as well as 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 1 brother, Randy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, and an older brother, Ronald.
We will miss Dad’s sharp mind, sense of humor and testimony of truth. Thanks Mom for taking such good care of Dad and helping him find his way home. He also had many great friends in all aspects of his life that we will be eternally grateful to.
