Ronald Medley
Nov 14, 1928 to Mar 16, 2017

Ronald Medley, 88, died Thursday, March 16, 2017 in Logan, Utah. As his great-granddaughter said, “Opa is happy to see Oma and Oma is happy to see Opa.”
Ron was born to James Fate and Sylvia Buck Medley on November 14, 1928 in Kimberly, Idaho. At three years old his family moved to Nampa, Idaho. He loved Nampa. He graduated from Nampa Senior High School. After high school he attended LDS Business College. He earned a certificate in bookkeeping. Ron was stationed in Europe during the Vietnam War while serving in the U.S. Army. Upon returning, his dad told him “go out and find a job.” He did, working for the Union Pacific Railroad. He worked as a conductor for 25 years and retired due to a railroad accident. Ron then worked for the Nampa Migrant Education Resource Center. He enjoyed his service to the students of this educational program and also received recognition for his dedicated service.
He met Therese Tuerk, the love of his life, at an LDS Church dance in Boise, Idaho. They were married on July 18, 1967 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Ron adopted Therese’s three daughters and later they adopted two additional children, Misty and Shawn. Ron and Therese had their children sealed to them in the Idaho Falls Temple.
Ron and Therese raised their family in Nampa. Ron was the quiet giant in the family. He loved his son and four daughters. He enjoyed being with them and their families. Ron loved being a husband, father, grandpa and opa. He spent many hours with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren watching dance recitals, school programs and athletic events.
Ron is preceded in his death by Therese, his parents and two brothers, Charles (Chuck) Lamb and Dean Medley. He is survived by his children: Debbie (Keith) Bingham, Sheila (Monte) Cook, Sherrie (Neil) Fullmer, Misty (Jesse) Thompson and Shawn Medley; and his brother, Melvin Medley. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren that knew him as Opa.
The family would like to thank the staff, nurses and aides of Rocky Mountain Care Center. Additionally, they would like to thank Dr. David Faux for his diligent care.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 20th at noon at the Allen Mortuary, 420 East 1800 North in North Logan. There will be a viewing from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will follow in the North Logan Cemetery.
