Sarah Ann Bankhead Lindley
October 10, 1927 - February 4, 2018
Sarah Ann Bankhead Lindley was born in Wellsville on Oct. 10, 1927, to William H. Bankhead and Elizabeth B. Bailey. She passed away on Feb. 4, 2018, at her home in Wellsville. She was educated in Wellsville and graduated from South Cache High School. She married Ray L. Lindley on Oct. 26, 1948.
Sarah loved Wellsville and was very proud to live there all of her life. She is remembered for a lifetime of service in her community and the LDS Church. She served and loved the Wellsville Elementary School children, both as an officer in PTA and as a teacher's aide. They loved her in return. She served as Wellsville City Justice of the Peace and was a devoted member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Throughout her life, Sarah served in many church callings. For the past year, as her health failed, she continued to serve faithfully as a visiting teacher by having "her sisters" come to her home so she could visit with them and check up on them. She served in the Charlotte North Carolina LDS mission.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Marijane Goonan; her daughter-in-law Genet Chatterton Lindley; her grandson Jordan Goonan; her great-grandaughters Ashlyn Kallas, McKenna Anne Alm, and Mikell Alm; her great-grandson Isaac Welsh; her brother William Ray Bankhead, and her sister Audra Nelson. She is survived by nine children: Gary (Joan) Lindley, Chad (Cindy) Lindley, Debra (Joe) Hawkins, Bob (Christine) Lindley, Sam (Jaime) Lindley, Kirt (Jan) Lindley, Tamara (Mark) Petersen, Dale (Nedra) Lindley, Blaine (Keisa) Lindley, son-in-law Tom Goonan, and her sister Grace Smith. Sarah is also survived by thirty-five grandchildren and fifty-eight great-grandchildren.
Sarah was especially grateful for all who gave her tender loving care, especially family members, ward members, and health care workers.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center in Logan, and on Monday, Feb. 12, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Wellsville Stake Center.
