Scott William Benson

Scott William Benson, 62, our loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully on December 26, 2018 from complications arising from leukemia.
Scott was born on June 28, 1956 in the Franklin County Hospital and was raised in Newton, UT, where he grew up farming and moving pipe. Scott graduated from Sky View High and shortly after married Lonetta Loveday in 1975. Scott and Lonetta had five children together (Jason, Amy, Brooks, Landon and Taiya). Scott’s children were the love of his life. During this time, he enjoyed playing competitive softball and church basketball with his friends and family.
Scott and Lonetta later divorced, and he married Darlene Lopez-Montana in 1992. Scott and Darlene spent many wonderful years together camping, fishing, and boating until Darlene passed away in 2016.
Scott later married Sarah Kim Lenhart in 2017 and shortly after was diagnosed with Leukemia. Though their time was short, Scott was grateful for Kim’s love and support for him.
Scott was an avid collector of sports cards and coins, and enjoyed college football, especially University of Utah Football. He loved scouting and had just rekindled his enjoyment of collecting Boy Scout patches. Scott was caring and humble, and never muttered a negative word, even through his many health challenges. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Scott is survived by his wife Sarah Kim Benson; his brothers Todd (Tonya) Benson, and Ryan (Wendy) Benson; his children, Jason (Jessica) Benson, Amy (Cole) Smith, Brooks (Laura) Benson, Landon (Cassie) Benson, and Taiya (Cam) Brown; his step-children Brandee (Tracy) Spackman, Isaac (Karen) Lopez-Montana, and AJ Lopez-Montana; and 26 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Elaine and Billy Hobbs, Milo and Maggie Benson, and Bert Bridges, and his wife Rona Darlene Benson.
Funeral services are under the direction of Allen Mortuary of North Logan and will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2108 at 11:00AM at the North Logan 7th Ward Chapel, 1850 N 400 E, North Logan. A viewing will be held prior from 9:30-10:30AM. Interment will follow in the Smithfield City Cemetery. Condolences may be shared online at www.allenmortuaries.com .
