Shirley Mae Snelson passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Maple Springs Assisted Living in North Logan. She was born October 31, 1935 in Long Beach, California. She was the last of four children born to Daniel Jorgensen Sr. and Helen Sidonna Kramer Jorgensen. She graduated from Compton High School, California in 1953.
She joined the Los Angeles Police Department in 1963 and served honorably as a police officer and detective for seventeen years from October 1963 to December 1980, at which time she was retired on a disability pension. She loved fly-fishing, with her husband, in Yellowstone National Park.
She married Karl Marcus Snelson on June 7, 1975 in Las Vegas, Nevada and the marriage was solemnized in the Los Angeles Temple on April 8, 1978.
Shirley was a kind, loving, and dedicated wife and mother. Despite all of her health difficulties, over the years, she always kept a positive attitude and set a wonderful and powerful example for others to follow as she endured to the end.

One of her most cherished callings was as a temple worker in the Logan temple, working with the new brides. She loved sharing the Great Plan of Happiness with others, especially-the four proselyting missions she served with her husband from 1982 to 2007: Spain, Barcelona; Micronesia, Guam (finished in Oregon, Portland because of medical problems); New York, Rochester; and Nebraska, Omaha.
She has four children from a previous marriage to Keith Charles Matthews: Leslie Renee Nuckles (Dennis); Keith Kevin Matthews (Vicki); Kimberly Iyone Matthews; and Brian Jeffrey Matthews (Linda).
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Daniel Jorgensen Jr.; her sisters Kathryn Louise Felt and Rose Marie Ulginer; and her daughter Kimberly Iyone Matthews. She is survived by her husband, three children, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren .
