Vonda Renee Elder

February 22, 1936 — October 20, 2017

Vonda Renee Waters Elder, 81, much beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Friday October 20th 2017 at her home in Nibley, Utah, after a valiant struggle with congestive heart disease.
Renee was born Feb. 22, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Mark R. Waters and Maude LyVerda Waters. She was the seventh of eight children.
Renee grew up on the family farm in Taylorsville, Utah and attended Granite High School. She married Dallas James Elder Jan. 16, 1953. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served faithfully throughout her life in every auxiliary of the church. She was a great example of strength as she served a mission with her husband in Salta Argentina and later supported him as bishop of the 7th ward in Logan. She taught the Gospel in her home by loving example.
Renee learned bookkeeping and kept the books for DJ Elder Construction Company for over 40 years. She loved to read and also had a talent for decorating which she developed by moving into many new houses over the years. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends in her lovely homes.
Her husband indulged her love of the holidays and together they built wonderful traditions including; Grandma Elder’s famous Easter Egg Hunt, Memorial and Labor Day breakfasts, and of course, the over-the-top Christmases. Renee remembered everyone’s birthdays and made each grandchild feel like they were her favorite. Her family and friends benefited greatly from her positive attitude, love for life and her great generosity. She is an elect lady, a peacemaker, a gracious matriarch, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her..
Renee is survived by her husband Dallas, daughters Vickie Lynn Craw (Scott). Denise Poulsen (Reese), Lisa Kay Wood (Curtis), Julie Renee Jensen (Bill) and by daughter-in-law Jenny Dean. She is also survived by sisters Dorisa Horton and Janice Sommercorn and by brother and Sister-in-laws Donna Waters, Rosemary Waters, Ray and Kris Elder, Vaughan and Claudia Carter and Clair and Kathy Carter. Renee also leaves behind her precious 22 grandchildren and 42 (and counting) great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers , one sister, a grandson and her only son DeLoy James Elder.
The family wishes to thank Access Hospice Team, especially Stephanie Murphy for her dignified, loving care.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 24th at 12:00 pm in the Nibley 3rd Ward, 3701 South 450 West. There will be a viewing held Monday evening from 6-8 pm at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center St. in Logan and also at the church on Tuesday from 10:30 - 11:30 am. Interment will be in the Providence Cemetery Condolences and memories may be shared online at www.allenmortuaries.net
