Alice Clough Brower

Alice Gertrude Clough Soule Brower was born in Albany, New York, November 17, 1935 to her delighted parents; Laurance Lyman Clough and Harriet Robinson Porter Clough. Her mortal life  ended  August 8, 2023 in Smithfield, Utah. 

Alice was raised in Delmar, New York where she attended Bethlehem Central High School.  Alice was awarded the Bausch and Lomb Science Medal, the Dr. Thomas M. Holmes Memorial Medal in Mathematics, placed first in two Latin contests, received a scholarship, and gave the salutatory address at her high school graduation. She attended Bates College where she was a Dean’s List student, biology laboratory assistant, participated in a variety of clubs, and earned her degree in Biology. 

Alice married William John Soule, Jr., they lived in California and later Utah. They had a family of ten children then divorced. Alice later married James Reed Brower. They raised their blended family in Logan, Utah.

Alice was an amazing woman who found unusual ways to manage life. She taught herself to read and write Swedish although she never spoke it.  She supported her children by being an Accredited Genealogist in American and Swedish research, and for many years working for the California Bureau of Missing Heirs. She loved puzzles, reading, swimming, did beautiful embroidery, and knitting later in life. Her favorite thing was being around her family.  Alice loved family picnics in the park and just watching and listening to  everyone.  

Alice joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in her late teens and was a devoted disciple of Christ all her life. We will forever be grateful we had such an amazing mother and grandmother.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Laurie Joan Bouquet Jensen; and by her granddaughter McKenzie Alice Fronk. Alice is survived by: her brother Roger (Rebecca) Clough; Lucille (Martin) Overhiser; a very grateful posterity of 9 children: Dana Lynn (Mike) Packer; Tammie Lu (Chad) Godfrey; Jonathan William (Christine) Soule; Heather (Brad) Andrerson; David Milan (Susan) Soule; Lucinda (Brad) Hansen; Suzanne Soule Hoggan; Larry Virgil (Aubrey) Soule; and Christopher James Brower. 36 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

 Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Allen Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan.  There will be no viewings.
