Alice May Elliott Chapman left this mortal world on September 27, 2025, surrounded by members of her family at her bedside. She was born on October 17, 1937, in Weiser, Idaho. Her parents were Charles Alonzo Elliott and Dorothy Jane Roberts Elliott. Alice is survived by her husband of 70+ years, James William (Bill) Chapman, son James William Jr, daughter May Dawn C. Rhodes, 10 grand children Kimberly Chapman, SharMarie Busby ( Josh), Jenny Marie Chapman, Tami Sue Christensen (Justen) David Chapman, Shawn Rhodes (Tiffany), Tami Sue Christensen (Justen) David Chapman, Shawn Rhodes (Tiffany), Tami Sue Christensen (Justin) David Chapman, Shawn Rhodes (Tiffany), Daniel Chapman (Courtney), Tavish Rhodes, Michael Chapman ( Katie), Jacob Chapman ( Amy), and 16 Great grand children all of whom she loved dearly and her loving sister Kathryn Chapman and spouse Robert E. She was preceded in death by her Parents in-laws William James Chapman, Donna Sparks Chapman, her infant son Jackie Lavern Chapman, and her younger brothers Charles John Elliott and Kenneth LaVern Elliott.

She has lived in Weiser, Idaho, Kemmerer, Wyoming, Anaconda, Montana, where her father worked for Anaconda Copper. During the war the family then moved to Frontier Wyoming, where her father worked in the mines. Then they moved to Green River Wyoming, where her father started a Dry Cleaning business before her family settled in Smithfield, where her father established The Smithfield Cleaners as his business.

She married James William Chapman on March 12, 1955 in Randolph, Utah and yes, they were still in High School at the time. Alice attended Logan High School for 3 months, transferred her credits and graduated with her Classmates at North Cache High school. Her husband was in the audience during her graduation, and a woman seated next to him asked- when she saw her name- if she was married, he replied, "Yes, she is my wife"; the woman promptly changed her seat.

Alice has served in her church assignments as primary teacher, Stake Primary President, back to the nursery- which was her favorite assignment. She attended the Temple as often as she could. She and her husband were called to the St. George Visitors Center and Historic Sites as missionaries in Thanksgiving week 2005, and reported to that assignment in April 2006. They served as senior couple.

On September 30, 1958, on her sons 4th birthday, she and her husband moved to Tremonton Utah, where they still have a home where their daughter and her family now live. Her first Church assignment in Tremonton was in the primary. In the mid sixties she was set apart as the Stake Primary President which she loved. When she was released she returned as a primary teacher. Later in the late eighties she was taken from the primary and set apart as the Ward Relief Society President.

She assisted her husband in their photography business and was the face of that business until retiring in 2002. She and Bill have lived in St. George Utah for the past twenty five years.

She has requested a graveside service, stating she wishes her friends to remember her as she was when they were together.

Graveside service will be held at the Logan Cemetery on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 12:30 PM.
