Alyce Kay Moser

February 15, 1940 — October 9, 2025

North Logan

Our beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Alyce Kay Moser [the “Famous Kay Moser”], reluctantly left us, on October 9th, 2025. We imagine her in heaven, exclaiming, “I was not done living.” According to her birth certificate, she was born in Montana on February 15, 1940 to Georgia Rose March and Calvin Lile Squires, but she was actually born on Valentines Day, but the doctors forgot to record her birth until right after midnight. Her mother called Kay her Valentine baby. As a child, she loved music, school, playing games, dancing, and playing the piano and the kettle drums. Kay especially loved both dance and music and had to choose between dance or piano lessons, so she chose dance; and she was an accomplished dancer with amazing flexibility, but she wanted to do both, so she didn’t give up on either dream and she convinced her parents to give her about 6 weeks of piano lessons. After that, she was self-taught as a child and could easily sight read music. Later in life, if she wasn’t singing, she conducted or accompanied choirs and congregations, both on the organ and piano. She loved singing, especially in the choir, and no matter how large the choir, we could always pick out her beautiful voice over all the others. She loved being with her family. When she was little, she would dress up and perform for her grandpa, who told her they were going to run away to Hollywood and become actors and she believed him. She also loved being with her brothers (Don, Ramon, Calvin, Gene, & David) and sisters (Lady, Vicki, and Lila), and living on the dairy farm in Fairfield, Montana. She met the love of her life and her soul mate in 1956, Alma Porter Moser, when he was stationed in Great Falls, Montana. He called her his guardian angel then and now. They married in 1957 and she supported Al through his educational journey, typing theses and dissertations for students as well as working at Thiokol. Later, she supported him on the home front while he worked, providing him with amazing home-cooked meals and a loving home. Her recipes were even published in the Salt Lake City Tribune. She loved canning food from the beautiful garden she and Al grew. Likewise, as an avid traveler, she traveled all over the world with Al.

She was multi-talented! She loved playing games and never allowed anyone to just win, even her grandchildren, a competitive trait she inherited from her mother and a trait passed on to some of her children and grandchildren. She loved telling jokes and could have been a stand-up comedian. Once, at a League of City Meetings, Kay was asked to share some jokes by the organizers. The people attending laughed so hard and some later told her they thought she was the paid entertainment for the event. Additionally, she later also served as the president of the former Utah League of Cities spouses auxiliary. Likewise, she served as the President of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She was an extrovert who loved meeting people and organizing parties and clubs, such as her Women’s Club, “The Disobedient Wife’s Club,” of which she was a life-long member as well as an “Old Mayors” club with previous Cache County Mayors who were Mayors when Al was the Mayor of North Logan. Her engagement with and love of life influenced her daily life. Although many people never knew she was a genius, she was brilliant. As a voracious reader, she inspired the love of reading and critical thinking in her children. She also championed and campaigned for a library for North Logan. Anything she set her mind to do, she mastered. She was an author, poet, playwright, musician, comedian, singer, and dancer!

Kay demonstrated the principles of charity and love for all people, and she had a unique way of making people feel special. While they were growing up, her children do not recall her saying anything negative about anyone. Constantly reaching out to help people in need, she embodied the true teaching of Jesus Christ, spending her entire life in the service of the community and family. She also taught us to see that all people have their own struggles and stories. She taught us to embrace our loves, to live our truths, and to strive to avoid hypocrisy and gossip. Moreover, she supported us in all our endeavors, even when she didn’t agree with some of our life choices. And she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren with every atom of her being. She embraced and enveloped all our lives in pure love. She never missed any of her children’s ball games or recitals or other important events. We always knew she was there for us and our hearts are breaking that we have lost her. She was the glue that held our family together. Our hearts have shattered and our lives will never be the same. While God has taken our angel of a wife, daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she is now a guardian angel for all of us who remain behind.

She has 8 children, born over four decades, in the 50’s, the 60’s, the 70’s, and the 80’s: Kirt Moser (Marilyn), Val Moser (Abby), Teri Moser (Harry Ziegler), Debbie Bond (LaRon), Calvin Moser (Brittney), Ruth Moser (Raven), David Moser (Sommer), and James Moser (Brooke). She also had 25 grandchildren: Ruby and Lila, & Sammi and Emma, & Zander, Dante, Jakai, & Jason, Austin, and Kaitlin, & David Alexander, Christopher, Caleb, Tara, Nicole, Jalan, Joshua, Adam, and Aaron, & Sean, Seth, Joshua, Krysta, Jessica, and Jacob, as well as 6 great grandchildren, Matthew, Sam, Emmy, Annabelle, Avery, and Lilly. She was predeceased by many loved ones, including her beloved Mother and Father, brothers, Don, Calvin, Ramon, Gene, and sister, Lady, her son Val, her granddaughter, Tara, and grandson, David Alexander. She will be sorely missed by all those whose lives she touched. Remember, as she might have told you if she was still here, the seven ages of humans: spills, drills, thrills, bills, ills, pills, and wills. In memory of Kay, reach out to those in need and please give your loved ones hugs today and let them know they are loved.
