Annette Mahoney Anderson McMurdie

Annette Mahoney Anderson McMurdie, 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, September 5, 2026.

Mom was born in Heber City, Utah on August 18, 1934, to C. Ray and Ann Mahoney. There she met her sweetheart Melvin J. Anderson, and they were married in the Logan Temple on June 16, 1955. Mom and Dad lived briefly in Heber, New York, Maine, then happily returned to Utah and raised their five children in North Logan.

Mom graduated with honors from Wasatch High School and briefly attended BYU in Provo. Her beloved career was as a wife and mother, and she excelled in both. We children and Dad loved her!

Mom was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in many callings, including as presidents of the Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary. However she was most comfortable giving quiet service to neighbors and loved ones. Numerous times we would come home to find warm cookies but learned not to dive in too fast as often they were also meant for others. Mom shared many meals and was a wonderful cook!

Mom and Dad were able to travel the world and visited every continent, mostly because of Dad’s work with the USDA in Saudi Arabia. They lived there for almost four years. Mom collected bells and found many to remind her of their grand adventures.

After Dad’s unexpected passing in 2002, Mom met Joseph McMurdie through a mutual friend from the Logan Temple where they each served, and they were married the following year. We are so grateful to Joe for the love and companionship he gave Mom for almost 20 years. His children were so sweet to Mom and we love them for that.

Annette is survived by her children Anita (& Stephen) Stewart, Larry (& Paula) Anderson, Linda (& Marc) Barello, Marie (& Kerry) Greenhalgh, and Ray (& Wendy) Anderson; by her younger brother Clarence (& Lois) Mahoney; and by 18 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and a great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by Melvin and Joe; her parents, her older brother Stephen (& Leah) Mahoney, two infant brothers Jay and Thomas; an infant granddaughter Sarah; and by each of Dad’s siblings and their spouses.

We will celebrate Mom’s life at a funeral on Saturday, September 12th at 11:30 a.m., with a visitation prior from 10 to 11:15. Both will be in her church building at 1550 E 1900 N in North Logan. Burial will follow afterwards in the Logan Cemetery, alongside Dad.

We are deeply grateful to Holly and CNS Hospice, Karmen and those at Terrance Grove Assisted Living where she resided for six weeks, Dan and Allen-Hall Mortuary, and the North Logan 10th Ward, for their care and loving support.
