Arlin Ray Lagasse passed away on January 15, 2026, at Ogden Regional Medical Center, at the age of 70.
Arlin was born on July 20, 1955, in Bellingham, Washington, to Hector Lagasse and Barbara Sartori. He was the sixth of eleven children and grew up in an active LDS family. Raised on a farm, Arlin learned the values of hard work early in life, often helping with chores and harvests, while never missing an opportunity to tease his siblings and share laughter.
After graduating from high school, Arlin enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served aboard an aircraft carrier and attained the rank of Petty Officer First Class. He later continued his military service in the United States Army, completing a combined total of 20 years of honorable service to his country.
Following his military career, Arlin moved to Utah and returned to school, where he discovered a deep love for writing while earning a bachelor’s degree in computer science. Arlin and his first wife Sharon, were blessed with six children: Sharlene, Raymond, David, Jared, Sheri, and Nathan. Through them, he became the proud grandfather of eighteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Arlin was endlessly proud of his children and spoke of them often— sharing their challenges, celebrating their successes, and offering encouragement whenever he could. For the past ten joyful years, Arlin shared a loving and fulfilling marriage with his wife, Annie, building a life rooted in companionship, devotion, and mutual respect. Known as an honest and exceptionally hardworking man, Arlin sometimes held as many as three jobs at once to provide for his family. He worked at Job Corps in Clearfield, Utah, where he taught Materials and Distribution Operations, focusing deeply on the futures and well-being of his students. Throughout his life, Arlin served his community and volunteered faithfully through his church.
Writing remained a lifelong passion. Arlin authored articles and poetry for local newspapers, using words to connect, reflect, and inspire. His charismatic personality made him easy to talk to, he listened carefully, asked thoughtful questions, and showed genuine interest in others. He was a true joy to have as a friend.
Arlin is survived by his beloved wife, Annie Lagasse; five children, Sharlene, Raymond, Jared, Sheri, and Nathan; sixteen grandchildren, Alyssa, Kailye, Taiylor, Daxton, Baiylee, Tyler, Makenzie, Ashlyn, Kaden, Jaden, Aaliyah, Kaliyah, Dario, Alexia, Brianna and Charly; and five great-grandchildren, Sanity, Mercy, Lillian, Elizabeth, and Kennedy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hector and Barbara Lagasse; his son David; his granddaughter Michelle; his grandson Dante; and his siblings, Martin and Dena.
