Arveda Mae (Lauritzen) Kent, 87, departed this life peacefully on November 18, 2024 at Maple Springs Living in North Logan, Utah.
Born January 28, 1937 to Paul Arden Lauritzen and Verna (Williams) Lauritzen in Corral, Idaho. Arveda was the second of four children. She grew up on Camas Prairie in Idaho, attending local schools and graduating from Gooding High School. After graduation, Arveda attended Ricks College.
While Arveda was working in Idaho Falls, she attended a dance in Rexburg, where she met her future husband, Grant Kent. They were married on July 23, 1959 in the Idaho Falls Temple, and they raised three daughters. Grant’s work as a JC Penney manager took them to Ogden, Utah; Pocatello, Idaho; Roosevelt, Utah; and Wolf Point, Montana; retiring to Island Park, Idaho, where they lived for about thirty years.
Arveda’s hands were never idle. Whether she was crocheting dishcloths, making rolls for a ward party, sewing a quilt, or scrapbooking for her grandkids, she always had a craft or project in progress. She looked forward to sharing her talents by giving away her finished products and teaching her skills to others.
Arveda served in many callings as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Additionally, she and Grant worked in the Rexburg Temple for eleven years.
She is survived by her husband, Grant, and their three children: Trena (Craig) Adams, Allyson (Brent) Sandberg, and Gaylene (Shawn) Lamb. She is also survived by many grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, and a brother, Clifton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arden and Verna Lauritzen, and brothers Elden and LaMar.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 22, 2024 at Noon in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1850 North 400 East, North Logan, Utah. A viewing will be held before the funeral service on Friday, November 22, 2024 from 10:30—11:30 AM. Interment will be in the Hyde Park, Utah cemetery.
