Betty Bankhead of Providence Utah passed away June 14 2025 .
She was born January 13, 1929 in Vernonia Oregon, the 5th child born to Fred Richards Riggs and Hannah Marvilla Jones.
She and her family moved back to the family farm in Wellsville at age 3. This family farm is the oldest continuous family ran farm in Cache Valley.
Mom married dad; Evan Jay Brenchley Bankhead for time and all eternity on October 9th 1946 in the Idaho Falls temple.
Mom was always determined to be the best she could at whatever she set her mind too. She had an notorious work ethic.
She was a great cook, known for her pies, raisin filled cookies, and her chocolate chips cookies in individual baggies for the great grand kids.
When mom and dad decided to buy the family farm from her dad, mom then went to work in Logan. She started at JC Penney’s, then later became a secretary for the now deficit Clearfield Cheese Company in Wellsville. When Clearfield Cheese was sold to Schreiber Cheese Company, she went to work as a personal secretary for Cordell Lundahl at Lundahl’s Astro Circuits.
After her retirement mom and dad decided to serve their first mission. They were called to San Diego California. Mom served as the mission secretary and dad looked after the mission cars. When the missionaries were not having much success in the Asian District mom and dad were asked to be proselyting missionaries to that district. They loved serving the people in that area.
Their second mission took them to Peoria, Illinois for 18 months they travelled many miles trying to locate the less active members of the church.
Mom served in the Logan LDS Temple for 14 years following their missions.
Mom and dad returned home to make the decision to move to Providence to the Cobblestone area. They loved their new neighborhood as they had loved living in Wellsville.
Mom’s testimony of Our Savior Jesus Christ and of the Plan of Happiness was a shining example to her posterity. She was a living testimony to endure to the end.
