Betty Lucille Stratford Barney slipped away from this mortal world on the evening of Monday, September 1, 2025. Betty was born on December 7, 1926. She was 3 months shy of her 99th birthday. She lived in Logan, Utah at the time of her passing.

Betty was born in Ogden, Utah, and spent her early childhood years in Baker, Oregon. Later, her family moved to Portland, Oregon where she spent her teenage years and graduated from Grant High School.

After high school Betty attended Brigham Young University where she met the love of her life, Pat Barney, in a coed dorm (Allen Hall), where “knock three times on the ceiling” was a reality. They were married in 1946.

During her married life Betty lived in Utah, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, and Nevada. Betty and Pat traveled extensively throughout the world, especially during the years after their children were grown, visiting every continent except Antarctica.

Betty loved music and played both the piano and the violin. She relished the opportunity to attend concerts and other musical performances, especially when one of her children or grandchildren were involved.

Betty was a faithful, lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and Pat served missions together in Canada and Florida. She also served in the Las Vegas Nevada and Logan Utah temples as an ordinance worker.

Together Pat and Betty have a posterity that numbers 35 grandchildren and more than 100 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Her children-- Kathy (Richard), David (Deedee), Bill (Judy), Larry (Sandra), Lynnelle (Jim), and Shirlene (Greg)—consider themselves blessed to have been raised by such a loving and dedicated mother.

It is clear that Betty’s greatest accomplishment in life was her family. More than anything else she loved spending time with those she loved so much and to whom she had dedicated her life.

Funeral services for Betty will be held at the Logan East Stake Center at 1450 East 1500 North, Logan, UT, on Saturday, September 6th at 11 am with visitation prior to the services starting at 9 am.
