Brent B. Hansen

Brent Basil Hansen, age 78, passed away peacefully July 5, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, service, generosity, and more engines than anyone could reasonably keep track of. Born on November 2, 1947, in Logan, Utah, to Warren and Blanche (Johnson) Hansen, Brent entered the world with grease in his veins and a need for speed. As a boy, he could often be found fixing up cars, driving them a little faster than his mother would have preferred, and spending summers working on his aunt and uncle's farm in Idaho, where he developed a lifelong love of hard work and the outdoors.

After graduating from Logan High School, Brent answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. Stationed in Pleiku during the Vietnam War, he worked as an aircraft mechanic, proving that if it had an engine, he could probably fix it. His mechanical talents followed him home, where a neighbor girl convinced him to attend a few activities at the local LDS church. Fortunately for him, she also agreed to marry him. Brent and Julie built not only a home, but also a life filled with faith, laughter, and countless memories while raising their three children—who, according to Brent, were all near perfect.

Cars weren't just Brent's job—they were his hobby, his entertainment, and occasionally his excuse to disappear into the garage for "just a few minutes." After working as a collision repair technician at Palmer's Auto, he spent more than 30 years at Bridgerland Applied Technology Center, where he founded the Auto Collision Repair program. He took great pride in teaching students not only how to repair vehicles but also how to take pride in doing quality work. Many of his former students still remember the lessons he taught, both in the shop and in life.

Retirement didn't slow Brent down—it simply shifted him into a different gear. He found happiness fishing, camping, exploring back roads on Jeep adventures, and making memories with his family. He never met a mountain road he didn't want to drive or a campfire he didn't want to sit around.

Service was another constant throughout Brent's life. He faithfully served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including as a Scout leader and bishop, where he quietly ministered to and strengthened those around him. Brent and Julie later had the opportunity to serve together in New York and Utah, experiences they treasured, and that deepened their faith and love for one another.

Brent had a quiet way of serving others. If someone needed help fixing a car, building something, moving, or solving a problem, he was usually the first one there—and often refused anything in return. He was known for his steady work ethic, his practical jokes, his dry sense of humor, and his ability to fix just about anything.

Above all else, Brent loved his family. He was proud of his children, delighted by his grandchildren, and grateful for the life he shared with Julie. His family will remember his patience, his willingness to help, the countless camping trips, garage projects, fishing adventures, and the quiet example he set of faith, integrity, and hard work.

Brent is survived by his devoted wife, Julie Ann (Clark) Hansen; his children, Maria Lyn Hansen, Andrew James Hansen (Stacey), and Angela Karen Hawkes (Jordan); along with his grandchildren Kade Hawkes, Kira Hansen, Kaisley Hawkes, Karli Hawkes, Kamden Hawkes, Kip Hansen and Karson Hansen, extended family, and many dear friends whose lives are better because they knew him.

A celebration of Brent's life will be held on Monday, July 13, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Logan LDS Stake Center, 565 E. 100 S., Logan, Utah.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, July 12, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St., Logan, Utah, and again on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Mt. Logan LDS Stake Center prior to the funeral service.

Graveside services will immediately follow at the Logan Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the many friends, neighbors, caregivers, and medical professionals who showed Brent kindness and compassion throughout his life.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor his memory by lending a hand to someone in need, teaching a young person a practical skill, taking your family camping, or simply enjoying a drive down a scenic back road. Brent would have approved.
