Bryan Lee Cox, 65, of Hyde Park, Utah, passed away peacefully at Murray Hospital on October 31, 2026, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Bryan was born on May 27, 1961, to Kenneth and Roberta Cox. He was the middle of five children and was raised as a rancher in Shelley, Idaho. Bryan was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served a mission in Bozeman, Montana.

Bryan attended Shelley High School and graduated with the class of 1979. After high school, he continued his education at Ricks College, where he met his eternal companion and sweetheart, Jana Bingham Cox. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on July 27, 1983. Bryan hungered for higher education, studying at Weber State, USU, Stevens-Henager College and more. After marrying and starting a family, Bryan returned to school to earn his Master of Business Administration. His career focused on aerospace, beginning at Thiokol. He later moved to the federal government, working as a program manager contracted with NASA for the Department of Defense. Bryan retired from the Department of Defense in 2023. Highlights of his career include working on Artemis I, II and III; Constellation; and God's Thumb, the closest satellite to orbit the sun.

Bryan had a true passion for the town where he settled his family in 1996. He felt a responsibility to better the community where he was raising his family. In 2006, he ran for and was elected to the Hyde Park City Council. From that day forward, he never stopped serving. He was elected mayor of Hyde Park in 2010 and 2014, stepped in again in 2021 after Hyde Park tragically lost Sharidean Flint, and was elected once more in 2022. He worked tirelessly to secure millions of dollars in grants for Hyde Park City. In August 2026, he resigned as mayor due to complications with his health. The impact he had on Hyde Park and its residents is enormous and will never be forgotten.

Bryan loved to travel. His wanderlust took he and Jana on hundreds of nights exploring the world. Oftentimes, he would book the next trip before the current one was over. He loved visiting tropical islands and would make friends with anyone who could keep up with his constant sense of humor. Bryan was a dedicated fan of Aggie football and basketball and would plan his schedule around the games. He was recently honored as the Hometown Hero by Coach Mendenhall at a USU football practice.

Most of all, Bryan loved being with his family. His favorite place was his backyard patio also known as his "office". There he was surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren enjoying life at a slower pace. He loved Sunday family dinners and summertime gatherings. He also loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events and dance and cheer performances, and he was the proudest grandpa at every game and event.

Bryan was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Roberta (Woolf) Cox of Ammon, Idaho.

He is survived by his siblings, Kurt and Connie Cox (Idaho Falls, ID), Jeff and Sh'lene Cox (Idaho Falls, ID), Rodney and Nancy Cox (Mooresville, NC), and Julie and Scott Hexum (Logan, UT); his wife and the love of his life, Jana Cox of Hyde Park, UT; his children, Janell (Cox) and Landon Wiley of Hyde Park, UT, Brianna (Bird) and Tyler Cox of China, ME, Caitlin (Ballard) and Derick Cox of Hyde Park, UT, and Rachel (Cox) and Jason Crookston of Nibley, UT; and his 11 grandchildren.
