C. Keith Hirst

February 23, 1928 — October 29, 2023

Clyde “Keith” Hirst, 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 29, 2023 in Logan, Utah surrounded by his wife and children.

Keith was born on February 23, 1928 in Ogden, Utah to Clyde Roberts and Marie Summers Hirst and was the oldest of four children:  Keith, Roxie, Michael, and Bartley.

He was raised in Paradise, Utah attending elementary and junior high in Paradise and Ogden, and graduated in 1946 from South Cache High School in Hyrum, Utah.

Keith began his employment in 1946 at Sears Roebuck and Company.  While employed at Sears, he met Afton Daines and they were married June 28, 1949 in the Logan LDS Temple and recently celebrated their 74th Wedding Anniversary.  They had three children:  Bruce, Cathryn, and Gary.  He proudly served in the United States Army for two years beginning in 1952.  Keith retired from Sears in 1998 after 52 years, the majority of his employment as a repair technician, and where lifelong friendships were developed.

He enjoyed repairing appliances, woodworking, fishing and hunting, camping, yardwork, spending time with family, and morning breaks with friends after retiring.

Keith is survived by his wife of over 74 years, Afton Daines Hirst; daughter Cathryn (Jerry) Peterson; son Gary (Laurie) Hirst; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter.  He is also survived by his sister Roxie (Lynn) Hancey; sister-in-law Carolyn Hirst; and brother Bartley (Peggy) Hirst.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Marie Hirst; brother Michael Hirst; and son and daughter-in-law Bruce and Nancy Hirst.

Services will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 12:00 noon, with a viewing prior to the service from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the LDS 10th Ward, 792 North 500 East, Logan, Utah.  Burial will be in the Logan Cemetery with military honors.
