Cindy Tanner

OGDEN UTAH Cindy Lea McRae Tanner died suddenly due to an aortic aneurysm on Tuesday, November 8, 2011, in Ogden, Utah. She was born January 12, 1958, in Boulder, Colorado to Don J. and Donna Lea (East) McRae.
Cindy attended DeAnza Elementary School in Palo Alto California until her family moved to Utah. Cindy finished her schooling while she lived in Hyrum Utah, attending Lincoln Elementary, South Cache Junior High, and Sky View High School, graduating in 1976. After graduation Cindy moved to Ogden, Utah and attended Weber State (College) University.
Cindy loved learning new things and found herself drawn to nature where she found inspiration for many of her drawings and paintings. Throughout her life, Cindy’s creative talent came through in the crafts that adorned her home and the imaginative ideas of her story writing. Her compassionate spirit and love of animals was appreciated by numerous pets, animals, and “critters” of all shapes and sizes.
Throughout much of her life Cindy worked with youth. She was “the best” babysitter to many kids in Hyrum, including her three youngest siblings and played, entertained, and taught them with love and creativity for hours and hours. She was a camp counselor for several years and loved to teach camp songs. She also worked with troubled youth in many different facilities. She had recently moved to Ogden and was working with Autistic children at Waterfall Canyon Academy. She also worked as a receptionist at Kier Property Management.
Cindy loved the outdoors; one of her favorite places was Alaska. She also loved dancing, reading, and watching movies.
Her greatest joy came from being the mother of her six children: Travis Dean, David Dean, Jared Dean, Tasheena Tanner, Stacey Allred, and Nathan Tanner. Her greatest delight was in playing with her grandchildren: Rylie, Kaylie, Mya, Jayden, and she was looking forward to holding her newest grandson, Jesse James (arriving January 2012).
Cindy cared deeply about her relationship with her many nieces and nephews, enjoyed attending reunions and associating with her large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins, and treasured the close friendships that she made throughout her life.
Cindy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved attending the temple whenever possible. She will be greatly missed by all of the young children she has taught in nursery.
She is survived by her parents Don and Donna McRae; her children Travis (Megan) Dean, David (Kristin) Dean, Jared Dean, Tasheena Tanner, Stacey (Kyle) Allred, and Nathan Tanner; her 5 beautiful grandchildren; her siblings Georgeana (Monte) Cook, Joel (Brigida) McRae, Rodney (Deanna) McRae, LaDawn (Mike) Richey, Sabrina (Nathan) Sullivan, and sister-in-law Melissa McRae. Cindy was preceded in death by her younger brother, Royce.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 14, 2011, at 12:00 noon in the Allen Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral from 10:30am to 11:30am that same day. Services are under the direction of the Allen Hall Funeral Home.
