Colleen Sue Schafer Platt, 77, of Providence, Utah, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away on July 14, 2025, following an eight-year battle with congestive heart failure.
Colleen was born on December 22, 1947, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Frederick R. Schafer, Jr., and Grayce Erickson Schafer, the third of eight children, and later grew up in Roy, Utah, where she attended Roy High School. She became a flight attendant for TWA, which took her to Kansas City, Missouri, where she met her first husband, Robert Allen. They began their married life in Missouri and soon became globetrotters with their five children. Their adventures took them to Hawaii, Samoa, Fiji, and Bolivia, with stops in Florida and again Missouri before finally ending in Illinois. Colleen married Brent N. Platt on May 31, 1997, and they made their home in Richmond, where they lived happily for more than twenty years. Colleen enjoyed quilting, sewing, and crafting; she loved to make ugly things beautiful. She was renowned for her wit and humor. Colleen was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Grayce Schafer. She is survived by her five children: Julia Allen, Sarah (AJ) Heiner, Emily Allen, Parker (Laycee) Allen, and Laura (Clint) Peery. Three Stepchildren: Shawn Platt, Rhonda Platt, and Austin (Marie) Platt. Nineteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and her seven siblings.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 10:30 am at the Richmond Utah LDS 4th Ward, 150 S. 100 E., Richmond, Utah. Friends and family may visit from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Interment will be at the Richmond Cemetery in Richmond, Utah.
