Curtis Glenn Germany, beloved husband, doting father, playful grandad, and true friend, passed away peacefully at his home on April 12, 2026, after a life full of laughter, humor, family, and deep enduring faith.
Curtis was born on February 6, 1950 to Will Fred and Eunice Germany in Los Angeles, California. Growing up in Hemet alongside his younger brother, Tommy, his days were filled with hitting baseballs, playing the trombone in the marching band, working in the orange groves near Disneyland, and body surfing the waves of Southern California.
After graduating from Hemet High and attending two years at Mt. San Jacinto Community College, he was offered a minor league baseball deal with the Philadelphia Phillies. Honoring a deal he made with his parents, he instead accepted admission to Brigham Young University, where he furthered his education, becoming the first member of his family to graduate from college, and continued to play trombone in the marching band. Although he was not a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Curtis was still assigned to a family home evening group within his ward where he met his future sweetheart, Susan Bell.
Curtis joined the Church at 21 years of age in February of 1971. He and Susan were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles Temple on July 7, 1972. They both graduated from BYU and soon after moved to Temple City, California where he started working for National Cash Register (NCR) as a sales representative. They later moved to Bakersfield, California for work, where he started teaching early morning seminary for the youth of his stake. This calling as a seminary teacher went on for more than 20 years. He loved serving the youth and teaching them scripture stories and how to apply them to real life. He was a favorite teacher in the Pleasanton Stake and really shined his light on all who came to his class.
His career took him to Pleasanton, California, where he continued working for NCR until they were bought out by AT&T and he joined Sun Microsystems, where he was a part of the cutting edge of computer technology advancements and had the opportunity to work with companies such as Pixar and Lockheed Martin. His work also gave him many opportunities to travel around the world, mainly Asia, where he gained a huge appreciation for the food and culture there.
After his baptism in 1971, Curtis and his faith never wavered. He remained a stalwart member and disciple of Christ throughout his 76 years of living, serving in many callings that included bishop over a Utah State University student ward, seminary teacher, high council member, scout leader, and Elder’s Quorum president. He served many years at Camp Ritchie in Pioneer, California, with the Pleasanton Stake young women, and participated in multiple 50 miler hikes all over the Sierra Nevada mountains with the young men of the Pleasanton Stake. His favorite callings involved working with the young people of the Church. It was always a dream of Curtis’s to serve a mission and be an official representative of Jesus Christ. Curtis and Susan were blessed to be able to serve in the London England South mission for two years, working with the institute directors and young adults, as well as serving in a small branch in Weymouth, England. They loved serving and have a special place in their hearts for the people in England.
Curtis and Susan built a beautiful and loving family together. They have seven children, five daughters and two sons. Family was the joy and pride of Curtis’ life and a huge priority for him. He loved spending time with his family and supporting his kids and grandkids at every activity. He made many sacrifices to be at every milestone of family members, valuing building strong and connecting relationships with each of them.
Curtis is survived by his loving wife, Susan, and their children Amy, (John Paul Turner), Robin (Dave Wilson), Cara (Jeff Trueman), Elizabeth (Ryan Elder), Laura (Mike Hall), and Glenn (Aviann), and thirty-two grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his father, Will Fred Germany, his mother, Eunice Brummett Germany, his brother, Tommy Germany, and his son, David Germany.
