Daniel Lee Bremer passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on July 9, 2026, in Logan, Utah. He was 78 years old.
Dan was born on December 3, 1947, to Robert and Evelyn Bremer. He was the oldest of three brothers and grew up in Alhambra, California, alongside his brothers, Bill and Robert. He graduated from Alhambra High School in 1966 before serving a two-year Spanish-speaking mission for the LDS church in South Texas. After returning home, he attended the University of Southern California.
While in college, Dan met Sylvia Botto, and they were married in February 1970. He worked a variety of jobs before beginning his career with the Santa Fe Railroad as a survey engineer and draftsman. Together, Dan and Sylvia raised five children: Dana, Jennifer, Roberta (who preceded him in death in 2026), Michele, and Matthew. In 1983, the family moved from California to Illinois. Dan and Sylvia later divorced in 1987.
In the early 1990s, Dan left the railroad and began a new career as a long-haul truck driver. He lived in Kansas and later returned to California before eventually settling in Utah. He spent nearly two decades traveling the country behind the wheel, enjoying the freedom of the open road.
Dan found love again when he married Jana Porter in 2005. They were sealed in the LDS temple in 2006 and shared 20 wonderful years of marriage. Although they had no children together, they built a loving family and treasured the time they spent with their many grandchildren.
Dan loved boxing, softball, college football, classic cars, and bowling. He especially enjoyed family gatherings and cherished every opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren. He had a lifelong love of Mexican food and never missed a chance to strike up a conversation in Spanish with anyone who to speak it. Even in his later years, Dan was proud of his strength and liked to joke that he "still had it" if he ever needed to protect himself—or his damsel.
For more than a decade, Dan faced Parkinson's disease and Lewy body dementia with determination before passing away from the effects of those illnesses.
Dan is survived by his beloved wife, Jana; his brothers, Bill and Robert; his children Dana, Jennifer, Michele, and Matthew; his five stepchildren; and 30 grandchildren.
Dan will be remembered for his hard work, his love of family, his sense of humor, and the countless miles he traveled while building a life filled with faith, resilience, and love.
Dan's funeral will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026 at Allen Mortuary of North Logan (420 East 1800 North, North Logan). A viewing will start at 12:00 PM, and the funeral will take place at 12:45. Interment will follow at the Ogden City Cemetery.
