Danna May Montgomery

Danna May Montgomery, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend, passed away on August 21, 2026, in Farmington, Utah. She was born on May 4, 1948, in Logan, Utah, to Henry Merrill Schumann and June LaPriel Lund.

Danna May grew up in Box Elder County, Utah, and attended Bear River High School. She later attended Brigham Young University and served an LDS mission in Bolivia. After her mission, she worked and traveled. At the age of 33, her life took a beautiful turn. It was then that she met the love of her life, M. Gene Montgomery. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, love, and service.

Danna May was a devoted wife and mother who took enormous pride in being a homemaker. She and Gene raised two children, and her family was always at the center of her heart. She loved having family gathered around her and took great joy in preparing meals for those she loved. She was a wonderful cook and made the best pies.

Her faith was an important part of her life. Danna May faithfully served in many capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She taught Primary for many years, served as a Young Women's leader, and served as a temple worker in the Logan, Utah Temple. After retirement, Danna May and Gene served a mission together in Oregon. This was one of her greatest accomplishments and things she was most proud of.

Danna May had a remarkable gift for caring for people. As her parents grew older, she devoted herself to caring for them. She gave generously of her time, energy, and love to her family and those around her.

She found joy in making things with her hands. She loved cross-stitching, quilting, crocheting, and putting together puzzles. Everyone knew when Danna May was around. She had an unmistakable voice as well as an unapologetic, one-of-a-kind, laugh that could fill a room. Her personality was as big as her heart. Even in her later years, when mobility became more difficult, her spirits remained high. She continued to love life and find joy in the people and moments around her.

Above all else, Danna May loved her husband, Gene. Their love was one of the great joys of her life, and the life they built together was a testament to devotion, companionship, and family.

Danna May was preceded in death by her beloved son, Maurice Kimball Montgomery. She is survived by her husband, M. Gene Montgomery; her son, Duren Montgomery (Heather); her grandchildren; and the many family members and friends whose lives she touched.

Danna May leaves behind a legacy of faith, devotion, service, laughter, and love. She taught those around her the importance of caring for others, opening your home and your heart, and finding happiness in the everyday moments of life.

Her family will miss her voice, her laugh, her cooking, her stories, her strength, and the unmistakable presence she brought wherever she went. Most of all, she will be missed because she was deeply loved. Her family will carry her love, her example, and her memory with them always.
