Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather
David spent the last 32 years in Concord, CA with his wife of 56 years, Lou, near his daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Phil McClelland of Concord, his son and daughter-in-law, David and Satu Woodland of Danville, and 9 grandchildren: Crystan, Adam, Chalisse, Anneli, Daniela, Zack, David, Matthew, and Josh, all living in the area. He is also survived by 2 sisters living in Southern California.
David was born in Malad, Idaho in 1925, graduated from Utah State University in Logan, UT, after serving in the Navy during WWII. He began his career as a National Bank Examiner with the Treasury Dpt. in SLC, UT, transferring to Southern California, and finishing up 30 years later in the San Francisco Region. Upon retirement, as an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he served a mission in Kirtland, OH with his treasured wife. He also enjoyed travel, golf, and being there for his family, friends and church.
Granddaughter Daniela Woodland gives this tribute to her grandparents, "All of my life Grammy and Grampy have been an unfailing example of the kind of love that never dims. That love has changed all of us, as love has the tendency to do." We all echo this with love to you, Grampy dear.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Thursday, August 18, 2005 from 10:00-10:45 a.m., with a funeral service to be held at 11:00 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1590 Denkinger Rd Concord, CA. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2005, at the Logan City Cemetery in Logan, UT. Services in Logan, Utah are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Humanitarian Services of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints available at www.lds.org/ldsfoundation .
