Dean Willard Nielsen, born May 24,1930, in Hyrum Utah, to Simpson and Hazel Nielsen, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, in Logan, Utah. He was 95 years old.
He pursued higher education at Utah State University and went on to work as a design engineer at Thiokol, where he applied his skills with precision and ingenuity. A proud veteran, Dean served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. His commitment to service extended beyond the Military; he also served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Toronto Ontario Canada.
Dean and Myrna were married in the logan LDS Temple December 12, 1952. They were Married for 71 years.
Dean had a passion for horseback riding and was an active member of the Hyrum Saddle Club. He found joy in working with his hands—refinishing and building furniture—and took pride in cultivating beautiful gardens. In later years, Dean and Myrna enjoyed traveling across the country in their trailer, exploring new places and making lasting memories along the way.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughters Sheila Everton, Teresa Nelson (Jack) and Suzette Nielsen Peterson; his brothers Denny Nielsen and Barry Nielsen; and his sister Sondra Bradshaw, 6 Grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren.
Dean was preceded in death by his beloved wife Myrna Nielsen; his parents Simpson and Hazel Nielsen, sisters Shirley Burke, Lois Evans, and Maxine Burdge, brother Vaughn Nielsen; son-in-law Stephen Everton, great grandson Wyatt Crockett, great granddaughter Kristen Crockett.
His Legacy lives on through those who knew him and shared in the many chapters of his long life. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
A funeral will be held at 12:00 Noon on October 11, 2025, At Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street Logan, Utah. There will be a viewing from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the service.
