Dennis Wayne Olsen, 81, originally from Hyrum, Utah, passed away June 2, 2026, from natural causes at Angels of the Valley where he had resided for the past fifteen years.
Born February 2, 1945, Dennis was the oldest of three children of Wayne Wilson Olsen and Melva Archibald Leishman Olsen. His early years working alongside his father on the Paradise farm shaped his strong work ethic and warm personality---qualities that stayed with him throughout his life.
Dennis graduated from South Cache High School, served in the National Guard, and attended Utah State University and Weber State University before moving to California in1965, where he lived the remainder of his life.
He married Susan Cazier in 1965; they later divorced. In 1974, he married Mary Grace Lucero, and together they had two sons. Even after their divorce, Dennis and Mary remained actively involved in raising their boys. Dennis also maintained a lifelong interest in the lives of his many nieces and nephews.
Known for his striking red hair and a smile that stretched from ear to ear, Dennis was very likable and related to neighbors and friends throughout his life. He built a long career in real estate management and investments, serving as Director of Property Services for NMS Property Services Corp.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law J. Clair Batty. He is survived by his two sons, Robert Wayne Olsen of Oak Park, California, and Jeffrey Wayne Olsen of Chatsworth, California, sister Karen Olsen Batty, North Logan, Utah, and Craig Lynn Olsen (Ruby) of Ventura, California.
The family expresses deep appreciation to the many caregivers at Angels of the Valley for their years of love and support following the brain infection that significantly impacted his later life.
A private family viewing will be held Monday, June 15, at Allen-Hall Mortuary (34 E. Center St., Logan, UT) followed by a public graveside memorial at 11 a.m. at the Hyrum Cemetery, 525 East Main.
