Providence

Dewayne Kohler a proud life long resident of Providence, UT died on June 1, 2026 at the age of 78 following a leukemia diagnosis, which he faced with a quiet remarkable strength.

Dewayne is survived by his two children and their spouses, Eric (Barb), Steff (Jeff), his five grandchildren, Jackson (Layken), Peyton, Liv, Addy, and Eli. Along with his four siblings and closest friends Dennis (Janet), Connie (Dave), Leann (Dee) and Tim (Amy). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who he loved and cared for. He was predeceased by his parents Budd and Maxine Kohler.

Dewayne was born on July 24th 1947 to Budd and Maxine Kohler. He attended Providence Elementary School and, not long ago, had the opportunity to attend an elementary class reunion, which he greatly enjoyed as he loved seeing those who had attended school with him. He also attended both South Cache High and Skyview High School, graduating from Sky View High in 1965 the first graduating class of the school. He worked at Thiokol for 39 years where he made many lifelong friends.

Dewayne enjoyed the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, and camping, and spent countless nights playing softball with his good friends on Team Auto Care. He enjoyed going for rides in the mountains to spot wildlife or simply soak in the breathtaking scenery of the back country. Across the valley, there wasn’t a backroad or trail he hadn’t traveled. For every fishing, hunting, and camping trip, or for every mountainous or valley excursion ever taken, he had a story to share full of humor, adventure, and the simple pleasures he embraced throughout his life.

He enjoyed working in the yard and took special pride in his flower beds. He was a man of faith. He quietly helped many people by serving and giving of his time and talents when and where needed. Above all, he was a devoted family man. Most everything he did involved family. He was happiest when he was able to spend time with his kids, grandkids, siblings, and their families. He showed us the joy of living a quiet simple life to the fullest in HIS own way. He has been greatly loved and will be missed by many.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, June 6th from 10-11:30AM at the LDS Church located at 301 S. Main St in Providence, UT with a graveside to follow at 12PM at the Providence City Cemetery.
