Diane Bennett Friedli passed away peacefully at Maple Springs Assisted Living, in North Logan, Utah, on Friday, May 9, 2025. She was born in Mapleton, Idaho to Argell & Beatrice Williams Bennett on May 31, 1942. Diane was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints throughout her life.
Diane was born in the farming community of Mapleton, Idaho, during WWII. When she was only three months old Argell would move his family to Pocatello, Idaho. He was called to go to work for the Defense Department in building an Army Air Base to be used during WWII. They would then move back to Mapleton for a short time and then he would be sent to the Army Defense Depot in Clearfield, Utah to work. They were there for only a year and then once again Diane would move with her family this time to Mesa, Arizona, when she was only four years old. Enjoying the warmer weather for a year Argell would then move his family back to Franklin, Idaho when Diane was six years old, here they would settle down and build a home.
For many years Diane and her sister Lorraine spent their summers on the Bennett family farm where they became thrilled with farm life. Diane enjoyed living in Franklin, Idaho she would attend Preston High School and later graduate from there. During her high school years she enjoyed being in the choir and participating in operas. After graduating she would attend Utah State University, while attending college she also worked as an assistant for Orthodontist Dr. Neil E. Bills. One of her fondest memories was performing in the Utah State University Institute Choir at General Conference with President David O. McKay in attendance. In August 1971 Diane’s love of family history grew when she began working for Everton Publishers; a genealogical publishing company.
While attending a local singles ward Diane met Dennis Friedli, two years later they were married on May 30, 1984 in the LDS Logan Temple, and would make their home together in the Logan, Utah area. In their later years Diane and Dennis would spend many hours in the Logan Temple completing temple work for those who had passed on. Diane and Dennis would spend 40 years together steadfastly remaining true sweethearts, until Dennis passed away on August 2, 2024.
Diane was not blessed with any children but she shared her love with other children in many ways. She worked for many years at the Logan High School North Campus caring for teenager’s babies as they completed their schooling. She also loved taking care of local ward children and babysitting for her relatives and sharing her love for them. Diane also enjoyed attending dance lessons, creating colorful quilts for sale, and following Jazz Games. She would also cherish trips with her sister Lorraine and enjoyed visiting LDS Church History sites, researching family history and doing temple work for ancestors.
Preceding her in death is the love of her life and everlasting sweetheart Dennis Nathan Friedli, and her devoted parents Argell & Beatrice Bennett as well as her only sibling, sister Lorraine Bennett Hawkes. The family would like to give special thanks to Bishop Zayne Davis and the Foothills LDS 2nd Ward for their continuous support and love. Gratitude is also given to Maple Springs Assisted Living for their dedication in caring for Diane. She will be missed by her many relatives in which her loving influence has blessed their lives.
Services will be held on Friday May 16 at the Foothills LDS 2nd Ward 1450 East 1500 North in Logan. There will be a viewing from 9:30 AM - 10:45 AM, followed by the funeral at 11 AM.
