Dona Archibald
Jenson
January 16, 1937 – May 4, 2026
Dona Nellie Archibald Jenson, 89, passed away on May 4, 2026. She was born on January 16, 1937, to Arnold and Afton Archibald. She was raised in Wellsville, Utah, where she developed a strong work ethic at an early age. She helped in the garden, rode horses, stacked hay in the barn, and picked cherries and topped beets. She attended Floradell Elementary, Wellsville Jr. High and graduated from South Cache High School in 1955. Following graduation, she worked at the Bluebird Restaurant.
While in high school, she met the love of her life, Cordell Jenson, a farm boy from Logan. They were married in 1957 and shared nearly 50 years together before his passing in 2006, just shy of their 50th wedding anniversary. Together they raised seven children. Their daughter Vickie was born first, followed by Tony a year later. Rex arrived the following year, and Scott and Terry were born in the years after. Donnell joined the family a few years later, and Bruce completed their family soon after. Dona's hands and heart were always full, especially while raising four boys under five years old.
Dona was devoted to her family and to life on the farm. She worked tirelessly alongside her family, helping with the mink, milking the cows, driving the corn truck, and washing milk equipment so the boys could leave for school. She and Cordell enjoyed dancing at the Delmar on weekends with the Ropelatos, Wilkinsons and the Alders, and spending time with all their friends. She rode horses in a riding club, bowled every Friday, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was blessed with 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Some of Dona's most cherished moments were spent at the racetrack with family and friends, watching horse races- flat track in the summer and chariot races in the winter. She could almost always be found at the track alongside her best friend, Betty. They were so beloved in the racing community that a race was even dedicated in their honor. It is the Three Grand Dams race at Wyoming Downs honoring Dona, Betty, and Shirlene. Dona was especially supportive of her son's chariot racing endeavors and attended every race she could.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Reed Arnold, her husband, and three children, Vickie Jenson, Rex Jenson, and Terry Jenson; her sisters-in-law Reva Merrill, and Wanda Clegg, and brother-in-law Wendell Clegg.
Dona is survived by her children Tony Jenson, Scott (Lesa) Jenson, Donnell (Stuart) Speth, and Bruce (Natalie) Jenson, her sister Pat Anderson, as well as 17 grandchildren Taylor, Hailee (Cody), Brandie (Jer), Kellie (AJ), Kyle (Whit), Tyrone (Steph), Megan (Jimmy), T.C., Braxton, Brinley (Bransen), and 16 great-grandchildren Lane, Taycee, Chase, Dykota, Parker, Hadley, Skyler, Peyton, Thatcher, Brynne, Barrett, Brylee, Easton, Daxton, Jaycee, and Tinzlee. Her daughter-in-law Jacque Crossman, brothers-in-law Jed Merrill, Dallas Leishman and her sister-in-law Crystal Leishman.
