Dustin "Dusty" Dorey Liberty, age 52, passed away on January 27, 2026, after a tough and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 14, 1973, in Logan, Utah.
Dusty was a true thrill seeker from the very beginning. His love of rodeo began at just seven years old alongside his brother Mike, and by age nine, the two had already made their mark—each winning first-place buckles in their age division for calf riding at the Little Buckeroo Rodeo in Hyrum, Utah. That passion carried him forward as he went on to ride big bulls well into his twenties, fearless and determined. He loved sports of all kinds, but his greatest passion was billiards. Dusty excelled in the game, winning many tournaments and forming lasting friendships within the pool community—friends who became family. Above all else, Dusty worked hard for his family. His love for his wife, Bridgett, was deep, unwavering, and immeasurable. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose strength, loyalty, and love will never be forgotten.
Dusty is survived by his wife, Bridgett Liberty; his brother, Michael Liberty (Cristina); his son, Austin Liberty (Kimberly); his daughters, Lauren Liberty-Williams (Travis), Courtnee Smart-Liberty (Daniel), and Kenzie Liberty; and his grandchildren, Onyx, Shawnee, Keenan, Tayzlee, Lukas, Tragan, Carter, Nevi, and two precious granddaughters whom he will meet and send to us already wrapped in his love. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Peggy Liberty; his sister, Jolene Liberty; his friend, Jason Anderson; and many others who are waiting with open arms.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Shiven Patel and his team at the Huntsman Cancer Institute for helping Dusty through the hardest fight of his life. Special thanks also to the Logan Regional Hospital Emergency Department, ICU, and Hospice teams for taking such compassionate and exceptional care of Dusty at the end.
