Elizabeth Lynn “Betty” Talbot was born on February 26, 1951, to Verden Lynn Talbot and Emeline Sweeney Talbot. She was their first daughter and, according to her mother, was the spitting image of her dad—a fact her father liked to joke was the reason Betty was so good-looking.
Betty experienced the loss of her parents at a young age, something that affected her deeply throughout her life. Like all of us, she faced struggles along the way, but she continued to meet them as best she could, carrying with her a spirit that was unmistakably her own.
Above all else, Betty loved her children. She became a mother to two beautiful daughters at a young age and loved them dearly, She later married Michael Andrew, and together they had four more children. Her six children; Lizette, Cindy, Dustin, Christy, Jed and Ryan were among the greatest loves of her life.
Betty was also married for a short time to Royd VanOrden.
Anyone who knew Betty knew that she was often the life of the party. She had a quick wit, a wonderful sense of humor, and an energy that could fill a room. She loved to laugh, and she had a way of making the people around her laugh right along with her.
She was a wonderful cook and had a gift for making sure no one around her ever went hungry. It didn’t matter whether you were family, a friend, or one of the neighborhood kids who happened to wander in; if Betty was there, there was a good chance you were going to be fed. Her home and her heart had room for people.
Music was always a part of Betty’s life. She could often be found singing or humming along to an old favorite from her childhood, Tina Turner, the Rolling Stones, or whatever song happened to catch her ear.
Her energy was infectious, and she had a way of becoming whatever someone needed her to be. To some she was a mother, to others a grandmother, an aunt, a sister, or simply a friend. Family to Betty wasn’t always determined by blood. If she loved you, you knew it, and chances were, you became part of her family too.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Verden and Emeline Talbot; her aunt Thyra T Griffeth, her sister, Michele Hintze; her grandson Joel Andrew, and the father of her children Michael Andrew.
She is survived by her six children, Lizette Andrew, Cindy Montgomery Larsen (Shaun), Dustin Andrew (Kim), Christy Noble (Jason), Jed Andrew, and Ryan Andrew; her siblings: Frank GoodBold (Kathy) Nicole Hess (Charles) and Emeline Goodwin (Michael) as well as her grandchildren, extended family, friends, and the many people whose lives were made a little louder, warmer, funnier, and more interesting because Betty was part of them.
Betty will be deeply missed, but those who knew her will undoubtedly think of her whenever they hear a familiar song, share a good laugh, gather around a table full of food, or welcome someone in and make them feel like family.
Her Celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, Septemeber 30, 2026 from 4pm-7pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints located at 400 W 1200 N in Trenton, Utah.
