Fred Baker Cooper

Fred Baker Cooper, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his sweetheart and family on January 4, 2026, at the age of 87 years old.

Born on December 27, 1938, in Mt Sterling, Utah to Marvin R. and Delone Baker Cooper. Fred grew up on the family farm in Cache Valley and graduated from South Cache High School and Seminary where he met and later married his High School sweetheart, Barbara Lue Naylor. Fred and Barbara were married on September 19, 1958, in the Logan LDS Temple. They built a log home in Providence, Utah where they lived for over 40 years and raised their 5 children.

Fred lived a life of service to his God, family and country. He served 6 years in the Army Reserve with 2 years of Active duty. Fred served in many callings as a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Fred and Barbara served a mission to Riverside, CA where they were loved and cherished many friendships. They later served faithfully as Temple Ordinance workers.

Well known for his hard work ethic, sense of humor and devotion to his family, Fred was an example of goodness. There was always a song, joke or teasing when he was around. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and jeep rides. In his later years, he found joy in woodworking and created detailed pieces now shared by many. He knew his Savior and had great faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Fred took great care of his sweet wife. They cherished their many years together filled with adventure, hard work and deep compassion. He worked most of his years as a mechanic, inspector and carpenter and retired from Logan Manufacturing Co.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Marvin and Delone Cooper, brother, Dean Cooper and grandchild, Kristen Cooper.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Barbara and their children; Ronald Fred Cooper (Cindy), Julene Van Gestel (Francis), Michael Ray Cooper (Sandy), Steven Kent Cooper (fiancée, Adrienne), Valerie Becker (David). He cherished and enjoyed his 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and numerous bonus step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

There will be a viewing on Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 10:00-11:30 AM at Allen-Hall Mortuary (34 E Center, Logan) followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM.
