Fredrico Ricardo Trujillo passed away peacefully in his home in Layton, Utah on August 4, 2025. Fred was born on September 20, 1941 in Manassa Colorado, to Fredrico Samuel Trujillo and Simonita Miera. Fred is the second youngest of six siblings; Mercedes, Emiline, Eloise, Margaret, Irene and Samuel. Fred moved to Layton, Utah as a child and graduated from Davis High School in 1959.
Fred joined the US Army in the early 1960’s. During this time, he married Angie Xerakis, and together they had a daughter, Deborah. Fred was eventually deployed to serve in Vietnam. Fred was stationed in Pleiku, Vietnam, as Staff Sargeant and served as a member of MAVC team 21, (Military Assistance Command Vietnam), from May 1966 to April 1967. Fred was awarded the Bronze Star for “meritorious service in connection with ground operations against a hostile force…” on April 15, 1967. Fred and Angie eventually divorced, and Fred was honorably discharged from the US Arm in 1970.
About 1970 (give or take) Fred began dating Celia Ann Dobson. Fred and Celia were married in Elko, Nevada in April 1971. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple. Fred and Celia were married for 54 years, and had had three sons, Aaron, Phil and Tim. Celia brought a daughter into the marriage, Jennifer Korth. Fred has 19 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Fred lived most of his adult life in Farmington Utah, Sterling Virgina and Logan Utah. Fred spent his last few years at Fairfield Village Assisted Living in Layton Utah.
Fred was proceeded in death by his wife, Celia Ann Trujillo, his parents, Fred and Simonita Trujillo, and his sisters Mercedes Harding, Emeline Picht and Eloise Bean. He is survived by his children, Deborah, Jennifer (Paul), Aaron (Lisa), Phillip (Cameron) and Timothy (Meggin), his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
During Fred’s life, he was an active member of the LDS Church and he held many callings, to include Bishop. Professionally, Fred worked in the tech industry, specifically with computers. His knowledge of computers and the nerd world, opened up contracts that eventually moved him and Celia to Virginia. While in Virginia, they explored historic Civil War sites, the Washington Mall, Pennsylvania Amish Country and anywhere else they could imagine. They opened their home to friends and family wanting to do the same.
Fred loved the outdoors and woodworking. He spent a lot of his free time camping, fishing and hunting. The majority of those expeditions were in the Uinta Mountains, specifically China Meadows and Christmas Meadows. Later in life, the rivers and campgrounds of the Cache National Forest became Fred’s second home. Many of the wood crafts that Fred made would become Celia’s masterpieces.
The last few months of Fred’s life were spent missing his wife of 54 years, Celia, who passed away in March. They are now finally back together, forever. We can only assume, they’re bothering the crap out of each other!
Fred will be interred at the Logan City Cemetery on August 11, 2025. Funeral Services will be held at Allen-Hall Mortuary the same day, the viewing beginning at 930 am, and the funeral service at 11 am.
We would like to thank the staff of Fairfield Village for the way they took care of our parents over the last few years. Their love and affection, kept our parents alive and made their last few years as enjoyable as possible. With sincere hearts, we thank you!
