Gayle Farnes Martin, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025, at the age of 89, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on July 14, 1936, in Richmond, Utah, to Raymond and Elsie Farnes, where she began a life filled with faith, love, and service. Gayle graduated from North Cache High School in Richmond, Utah, and carried the values of hard work and dedication with her throughout her life.
On July 16, 1954, Gayle was sealed to her eternal companion, DeMar Martin, in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they built a life rooted in devotion to family and dedication to their faith.
Gayle was the proud mother of six children: Vicky, Steve, Bret, Thad, Teri, and Cory. She cherished her role as grandmother to 26 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 28 great-grandchildren. She was deeply proud of each of them and found joy in their lives, accomplishments, and the love they brought into her own.
She loved working in her garden and tending to her flower beds, bringing color and beauty to each season. Gayle also took pride in caring for her home, keeping it clean and welcoming. For many years, she worked nights cleaning the Logan LDS Temple, a labor of love that reflected her devotion to her faith. She also served faithfully in many church callings throughout her life, blessing her ward and community with her dedication and service.
Gayle will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. Her legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years DeMar; her children Vicky (George Moritz), Bret (Diane), Thad (Tori), Teri (John David), and Cory (Tamie); her daughter-in-law Tammy; her grandchildren; and her great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Valene and her brothers Blaine, Larry, and Farrel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Elsie Farnes; her sisters Opal and Fern; her brothers Paul and DeMore; her son Steve; and her granddaughters Amanda and Kirstyn.
There will be a Graveside Service held on December 15, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Preston, Idaho Cemetery, preceded by a private family viewing at Allen Mortuary.
