Gayle Mearetta Carlson Taylor, 88 passed away Saturday, December 17, 2011 in Providence, Utah with her loving son by her side. Gayle was born November 23, 1923 in Logan, Utah to Victor Eugene & Mary Mearitta McNeil Carlson. Gayle spent her entire life in Logan. She married Arnold (Lefty) Taylor on August 6, 1941 in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho; later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. They had two sons, Arnold Dennis Taylor (deceased) and Boyd (Janet) Taylor. Gayle made friends easily and forged many lifelong friendships which she enjoyed very much. She enjoyed the associations she had with her bowling team and her club group. She loved shopping and she and Arnold never missed their daily stops at Angie’s Restaurant. Gayle was a very talented knitter, having knitted sweaters and sweater coats which she entered in the Cache County Fairs earning several blue ribbons for her excellent craftsmanship. She later learned to crochet making many afghans for her home and her grandchildren. Gayle’s working career included work at a local Dry Cleaning business; she also worked for and managed the Wonder Bread Thrift Store for many years retiring in 1992. After retirement she enjoyed several years working at the Gift Shop at Logan Regional Hospital. Gayle always liked being sociable and working with the public and enjoying her friends. Arnold and Gayle loved to go to Jackson Hole in the summers and enjoyed the friendship of good people there. After Arnold’s death in 2003, Gayle moved to Providence where she made many new friends whom she cherished dearly. She resided the last year in the Cache Valley Assisted Living Center where she passed away. She was preceded in death by her parents, all her siblings, her husband, son Arnold Dennis Taylor and a great grandson Drake Lewis Taylor. She is survived by her son Boyd (Janet) Taylor and their six children also by Dennis’ children, Kevin (Tara) Taylor, Shelly (Michael) Funk and Laurie (Max) Jones; daughter-in-law Sandy (Larry) Adams and their two children. She had 23 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Gayle was proud of her family and cherished each visit from her loved ones. She especially had a soft spot in her heart for the little redheaded ones.

The family would like to thank the Staff at Cache Valley Assisted Living, Doctor Vera Carlson and the Staff of Rocky Mountain Hospice that loved and served Gayle these past months. Their dedication and care of Gayle are greatly appreciated.

Funeral Services will be held at noon Wednesday, December 21, at the Providence 4th Ward Chapel at 155 N 100 E, Providence; with a viewing from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. A viewing will also be held from 6 pm to 8 pm Tuesday, December 20, at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E Center, Logan. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
