LOGAN, UTAH: George Fife Wilkinson, 90, passed away in Logan on the evening of Sunday, February 10, 2013. He was surrounded by family while enjoying a cup of chocolate ice cream. George was born in Logan, Utah on October 30, 1922 to George M.. and Maude “Myrle” Fife Wilkinson.

George grew up in Logan, the son of a prominent business family. He spent many hours learning the ins and outs of the stationary business; however, he spent his summers in Lava Hot Springs where his grandfather and uncle owned a mechanic business. In Lava George became an avid “gearhead” beginning a lifetime fascination of cares and motorcycles.

George married his high school sweetheart, Elaine D. Evans on April 10, 1942 in the Logan LDS Temple. At the time he was working as an aviation mechanic at Hill Field in Ogden. In September of 1943 George enlisted in the U. S. Navy and due to his skills as an aviation mechanic he was sent to Sand Point, Washington where he was attached to a fighter wing. George used to say. “The pilots broke em, and we fixed em back up.” George was honorably discharged from the U. S. Navy on January 19, 1946.

George spent the rest of his life in Logan. He owned and operated the family business; Wilkinson and Sons. George served as a president of the Logan Chapter of the Rotary Club and Toastmasters. He was also a long time member of the Cache Chamber of Commerce. After retirement, George and Elaine traveled extensively, visiting all 50 states and several European and Central American countries. They also enjoyed many summer days relaxing at their cabin in Logan Canyon. George lost Elaine in 1998 after she battled cancer and Alzheimer’s.

On August 17, 2001 George married Cloteel “Chris” Larsen. He and Chris loved to spend their time traveling and being surrounded by friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Chris; children, Robert “Bob” and Nancy Wilkinson of Logan; Diane Wilkinson, Logan; Lynn Wilkinson, San Francisco, CA, Jeff and Carolyn Larsen; Kathy and Rulon Jones; Terri and Steve DeJohn; Kristi and Russ Paulson.
