Gordon Jay Larsen

September 11, 1936 — May 22, 2026

Scottsdale, Arizona

Gordon Jay Larsen, 89, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Born on September 11, 1936, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Gordon lived a life defined by faith, devotion to family, and enduring commitment to those he loved. He was a man of strength, integrity, and kindness whose influence will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

On October 24, 1956, Gordon married Velma Rolene Godderridge in the Logan Temple. Gordon's career as an engineer took the family to many different states as they raised their three sons. Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, and service, creating a legacy that continues through the generations that followed. Rolene passed away unexpectedly in Grand Junction, Colorado, on March 16, 1995.

Gordon later married Nadine Wymer Zager on December 12, 2000. They met while serving in the Vernal, Utah Temple. Their shared devotion to their faith led them to serve a mission together in the Florida Key West Mission. Upon returning home, they continued their temple service for another fifteen years, touching countless lives through their dedication and example. Nadine passed away February 25, 2024 in Neola, UT.

Gordon enjoyed spending time with the boys in the mountains, hunting, fishing or cutting a load of wood for the fireplace. There was always work to do in the garden or "fixing" something, but he took time to get the family together for an outing on the boat or to make root beer floats.

Throughout his engineering career, Gordon was respected for his intelligence, problem-solving abilities, and strong work ethic. Beyond his career, he was known for his wisdom, steady presence, and willingness to help others. He cherished time spent with family and friends and found great joy in serving his church.

Gordon is survived by his children: Grant Larsen and his wife Eileen, Arizona; Scott Larsen and his wife Erin, Texas; Cindy Larsen, Logan; Loidene and Ray Natani, Tridell; Ervin and Sandy Zager, Neola; Sheril and Stewart Olsen, Neola; Lory and Rod Olsen, Neola; B.J. and Dena Zager, Neola. Siblings: Nancy Larsen and Debby Herget. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Viola, wife Rolene, wife Nadine, his son Bryan, brothers Mark, Sydney, and sister Verna Olsen.
