Gordon Lee Robbins, age 69, passed away at his home in Riverdale, Utah on December 13, 2012. Gordon was born December 16, 1942 on his grandmothers kitchen table in Emery, Utah. He moved to Springville where he spent his growing up years. He graduated from Springville High School, attended Brigham Young University and Utah State University. He served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the North East British Mission. He married his sweetheart Diane Peirce on November 5th, 1965 in the Salt Lake Temple. They spent 47 wonderful years together raising their family in Cache Valley. Gordon worked in the insurance industry for 40 years.
Gordon had a great love for the gospel of Jesus Christ and served diligently in whatever he was called to do including service as Bishop of the Millville First Ward, and high counselor and member of the Stake Presidency in the USU 3rd Stake. He was always willing to plan and participate in young men activities, father and son outings, and anything else that allowed him to be with the youth.
His greatest love and treasure was his family. Everything he planned, purchased, or worked toward was to unite them and enhance the wonderful experiences in life together. He loved being active and going places. Dad’s motto was to plan the next event on the way home from the current adventure. He loved trips, especially jeeping in Moab with his children, grandchildren, and friends who are considered part of the family.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife Diane, his mother Ina Robbins, his children Mark (Kathy Stewart), Matt (Natalie Bingham), Jeff (Jennifer Singer), Melanie (Matt Lloyd), Jed (Marjorie Thornal), Jill (Jason Fonnesbeck), and 19 amazing grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his grandson Jaxon.
We express profound appreciation to the health care professionals who have compassionately served our husband, father and grandfather. Jared, Whitney, Sue, Annette, Kathy, Carolyn, and Brenda have respectfully entered our home to care for our dad, their kindness and compassion have comforted us all.
